Euro 2021 Wales Odds, Tips, Stats
The memories of Euro 2016 will fuel Wales at this summer’s tournament. It’s the third time that the Dragons have qualified for a major competition. They made it all the way to the semi-finals at their second major tournament back in 2016. Few expect a similar feat here but don’t write off Wales.

Wales Euro 2021 Group A Fixtures
Wales are in Group A of Euro 2021. They are the lowest-ranked team in the group but qualification is realistic. Italy are the top seed and the major favourites to progress. Roberto Mancini has a fine Italian squad at his disposal and home soil advantage.
Wales will play their two biggest matches in Baku. The Dragons will make Azerbaijan their temporary home during the group stage. There they will take on their two biggest rivals for qualification.
Switzerland and Turkey complete Group A. Wales will face both in their first two fixtures in the group. Those two games will decide the Dragons’ fate in this competition.
The schedule does favour the Welsh more than the other two nations. Turkey take on Italy in Rome before the Wales match. That lengthy journey won’t help preparation. The Swiss team will camp in Rome for the competition and have the same issue. Wales will hope that this works in their favour.

Wales Euro 2021 Qualification & Form
Wales needed to travel to Baku to qualify for this tournament. They were in Qualifying Group E alongside Azerbaijan. Wales beat them twice as Azerbaijan finished bottom of the group with one point.
The other sides in Qualifying Group E provided sterner competition to the Welsh. The Dragons finished in second behind the 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia. Wales finished one point ahead of Slovakia in 3rd and two points above Hungary in fourth. Both of them progressed to the tournament which shows the quality of the teams.
But Wales enjoyed a successful qualifying campaign. They took 14 points from eight matches and held Croatia to a 1-1 draw in Cardiff. They remained unbeaten in their final five matches of qualifying, winning three.
They’ve done well since qualifying for this tournament. Wales achieved promotion to UEFA Nations League Group A after topping Group B4. They’ve also started well in their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

England Euro 2021 Squad & Manager
Manager: Robert Page (caretaker)
Goalkeepers: Wayne Hennessey, Danny Ward, Adam Davies
Defenders: Chris Gunter, Neco Williams, Ben Davies, Tom Lockyer, Joe Rodon, Connor Roberts, Rhys Norrington-Davies, Chris Mepham, Ben Cabango
Midfielders: Joe Allen, Harry Wilson, Aaron Ramsey, Ethan Ampadu, Joe Morrell, Jonny Williams, David Brooks, Daniel James, Dylan Levitt, Rubin Colwill, Matthew Smith
Attackers: Tyler Roberts, Gareth Bale, Kieffer Moore
Ryan Giggs isn’t involved so Robert Page will lead the Dragons. The former Wales international has full control of the first team as caretaker manager. He managed the Wales Under-21s for a few years before stepping up to the first team as an assistant.
Page has a fine group of players at his disposal. The standout names are, of course, Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey. Bale captains his country and is the focal point of the side. The Real Madrid man is on loan at Tottenham Hotspur and has shown his quality at times this season. He played eight times in qualifying and was the Dragons’ joint-top scorer.
Aaron Ramsey is another key part of this side. The Juventus man is the other big goal threat in this Wales side and a key member of the starting lineup. Injuries have hurt him in recent years. Ramsey has only made one appearance for the national team since 2019. He is back fit for the Serie A side and will hope to complement Bale in the Welsh attack.
But there is plenty of other quality in this squad. The standard of the Welsh team has increased since Euro 2016. Daniel James and Harry Wilson have become crucial squad members. Both have tremendous Premier League experience and will threaten any side.
In defence, Joe Rodon and Chris Mepham form a tight unit. Connor Roberts and Neco Williams provide real quality in the wing-back positions. Ethan Ampadu and Joe Allen have Premier League experience in the centre of midfield.
Ramsey and Bale remain the biggest threats in this Wales team. There is no doubt about that but this squad has plenty of quality. It hasn’t been the most relaxing way to build up to a major tournament but the squad isn’t in doubt.
Wales Euro History
Bale and Ramsey are crucial to Wales’ chances with their excellent chemistry on the pitch. Injuries have kept them apart in recent years. Bale and Ramsey haven’t started a match together for Wales since November 2019.

They try to keep things tight and catch their opponents out with a moment of quality from one of their key players. The Dragons showed their defensive solidity when qualifying. Wales conceded just six times when qualifying for this tournament. Only seven nations conceded fewer goals than them.
They didn’t score too many goals either. They had the second-lowest average number of total match goals. There was an average of 2.00 total goals per game in Wales’ qualifying matches. 25% of them had over 2.5 goals compared to the average of 61.6%.
Wales Euro 2021 Odds
Wales are far from the favourites to win this competition. You’ll get odds as high as 201.00 for the Dragons to lift the trophy. The best price is 41.00 for Wales to go one step further than they did in 2016 and reach the final.
But those are both unlikely. Wales’ aspirations are lower considering the quality of the teams in this competition. Rob Page would be content with reaching the knockout stage. Wales are at 1.83 to get out of their group. It’s 9.0 for them to beat Italy, Switzerland and Turkey to the top spot in Group A.

Wales Euro 2021 Prediction
Another semi-final seems unlikely for Wales in this extended format competition. That wasn’t the aim in 2016 and it won’t be the aim here. Wales still have their sights set on the knockout stage of the competition. Group A has some quality teams but qualification is very realistic for the Dragons.
The draw could work in their favour. The runners-up in Group A will most likely get a winnable match in the next stage. They have a solid defence, a quality squad and some world-class talent upfront. Don’t write Wales off.
Wales Euro 2021 Prediction: Finish 3rd in Group A then exit in the Round of 16
