Switzerland face Spain in Saint Petersburg for a place in the semi-finals. The Swiss are aiming for another upset after they knocked out the world champions, France in the previous round. It finished 3-3 after 120 minutes. Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer was the hero after saving Kylian Mbappe’s effort in the penalty shootout.
Both sides needed extra time to get through their first knockout match. Spain got past Croatia 5-3 after an entertaining match in Copenhagen. The Spanish surrendered a two-goal lead but pulled away in extra time. Alvaro Morata and Mikel Oyarzabal scored to secure a 5-3 win.
It will be the first time that these two nations have met in this competition. Switzerland and Spain have faced off in three World Cup matches before and the Spanish won two. They have met more recently. The sides faced off twice last year in the Nations League. The scores were 1-1 and 1-0 to Spain.
It’s the furthest that Switzerland have ever been at the European Championships. The Swiss haven’t played a quarter final at a major tournament since they hosted the 1954 World Cup. Spain certainly have been here before. La Roja are the only nation to win this tournament twice in a row. They only made it to the round of 16 in 2016.
But Spain are the favourites to progress to the semis. Luis Enrique’s men are low at 1.33 to qualify for the final four. It’s 3.25 for Switzerland to cause another upset and qualify here.

Belgium take on Italy at the Allianz Arena in Munich for a place in the semis. This is the most eye-catching quarter final at the European Championships. Belgium and Italy have been the two most impressive sides so far with flawless records in the group stage.
But both nations scraped through in the previous round. Belgium beat the holders, Portugal 1-0 in Seville. Italy needed extra time to open up Austria. They eventually won 2-1 at Wembley. Federico Chiesa and Matteo Pessina got the goals for Mancini’s men.
These nations have met four times at major tournaments but never before in a knockout match. The Azzurri have dominated this fixture. Belgium have only beaten Italy once before in a competitive match. That was back in 1972 when qualifying for the European Championships that year.
Belgium made it to the semi-finals that year and the final in 1980. They haven’t come close to that since then. This is only their fourth knockout match at the Euros in the last 40 years. Italy have been here before. They’re regulars in the knockout stage and made it to the final twice in the last 21 years. The Azzurri should beware. They were eliminated at the quarter-final stage in two of the last three tournaments.
Italy are the slight favourites to progress. The bookies think that extra tournament experience will help the Azzurri. They are 1.66 to qualify while Belgium are out at 2.10 to reach the semis.

The Czech Repulic and Denmark head to Baku to battle it out for a place in the final four. Few expected either of these sides to make the semis but one of them will be there after this match.
The Czech Republic produced one of the surprises of the round to get here. They got through Group D in third place and received a tricky tie with the Netherlands. The Czech Republic won 2-0 in Budapest to secure their spot here. Denmark have momentum after a late surge in Group B. They beat Wales 4-0 in the round of 16 to get here.
It will be the third meeting between these sides at the European Championships. The Czech Republic and Denmark played each other at Euro 2000 and 2004. The Czechs won both matches to nil but Denmark have got their revenge since then.
Both sides have been here before. The Czech Republic have reached the quarter finals of this competition in four of the last seven editions. Denmark haven’t made it this far at the Euros since 2004. They haven’t got any further than this since they won the competition in 1992.
The Danes are the favourites to qualify at 1.50. It would be only the second knockout tie they’ve won since 2000 after the round of 16 match against Wales. It’s 2.50 for the Czech Republic to cause another upset and qualify.

Ukraine versus England is the last quarter final of Euro 2021. These two sides face off at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome for a place in the final four.
Ukraine have already achieved so much. Andriy Schevchenko’s side have already equalled the nation’s best-ever finish at a major tournament. They made it to this stage at the 2006 World Cup but haven’t exited the groups at the Euros. They needed extra time to get past Sweden but secured an impressive 2-1 win.
England didn’t need that extra 30 minutes. Their 2-0 win over Germany was their first knockout win at the Euros for 25 years. But there is hope for this England side. Gareth Southgate’s men still haven’t conceded a goal and took 7 points from three matches in Group D.
There is a slight step into the unknown here. These two sides haven’t met since the qualification for the 2014 World Cup. Both matches finished all square but England won 1-0 in their only other fixture at a major tournament. They beat co-hosts Ukraine 1-0 at Euro 2012. England won four of their seven meetings and Ukraine triumphed once.
The English are the big favourites to get through this match and to continue their good record against Ukraine. England are 1.18 to qualify while Andriy Shevchenko’s men are out at 4.50 to get through to the semis.
