EFL Midweek Acca Tips: Home Joy On Tuesday Evening
We’ve got three EFL Midweek Acca Tips for the smattering of EFL games on Tuesday, with action from League 1 and League 2 under the microscope. The EFL is very much in full-swing, and there appears to be some early season value to consider already.
I have done some digging and picked out three bets that I see as value and make up a 10.45 odds treble, covering Fleetwood’s trip to Bolton, a southern meet-up between Exeter and Portsmouth, and Crewe’s task of a travelling Newport side.
- Bolton vs Fleetwood: Bolton -1 Asian Handicap
- Portsmouth vs Exeter: Portsmouth Win
- Crewe vs Newport: Crewe Win
Acca odds: 10.45

Bolton vs Fleetwood: Trotters to trot to victory
England, League One, Tuesday, August 15th, 19:45 (UK)
The first leg of the acca comes from the Toughsheet Community Stadium as Bolton hosts Fleetwood.
After being billed as one of the pre-season favourites for promotion, Ian Evatt’s side have started the season in scintillating form, recording back-to-back 3-0 victories—at home to Lincoln and away to Cheltenham.
Both games demonstrated the Trotters’ ability to keep the ball and restrict their opponents, averaging 72% possession and 5.5 shots against over these two games. Going forward, they’ve also had plenty of shots, recording 18 shots against Lincoln and 17 against Cheltenham.
Evatt will be delighted that Dion Charles is off the mark after his brace against the Robins, which is the perfect way to start his challenge for the golden boot. Fleetwood have had a disappointing start to the season, coming off the back of a 2-0 home defeat to relegation candidates Cambridge. This came after a 1-1 draw at recently promoted Carlisle.
Fans have become discontent with Scott Brown’s style of play and lack of attacking impetus. Travelling to a Bolton side that is yet to concede in three games so far won’t do much to inspire fans of The Cod Army.
Bolton were phenomenal at home last campaign, gaining 47 points from 23 games while only conceding 13 goals. The Bolton -1 Asian handicap has landed in both Bolton league games this season, and I am willing to bank on them doing this again.
- Selection: Bolton -1 Asian Handicap
- Best Odds: 1.825
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 10/10

Portsmouth vs Exeter: Pompey to show title credentials
England, League One, Tuesday, August 15th, 19:45 (UK)
Fratton Park plays host to a South Coast battle between Portsmouth and Exeter. John Mousinho’s side opened their campaign with a home point against Bristol Rovers before dismantling Leyton Orient 4-0 at Brisbane Road. Four points from the opening two games mean Pompey are now unbeaten in 13 games.
Mousinho will be encouraged by his side’s attacking play so far. Australian attacker Kusini Yengi has scored four goals in 89 minutes of football in three games. Colby Bishop also got off the mark in the resounding victory over the O’s.
With talent such as Conor Shaughnessy and Regan Poole in the defence, it is easy to see why Pompey have looked so defensively solid. In Kusini Yengi and Colby Bishop (someone I was very bullish on in my League One ante-post betting preview), Portsmouth possess real strength in attack. Gavin Whyte and Abu Kamara also augment an already strong arsenal of attacking options. Marlon Pack and Joe Morrell protect the backline in a solid double pivot.
Exeter had a disappointing summer window. Shot-stopper Jamal Blackman, talented fullbacks Jack Sparkes and Josh Key, and talisman Jevani Brown have all departed. Gary Caldwell’s side have had a solid start to the season, defeating Wycombe 3-0 away before a stalemate at home to Blackpool.
The Grecians ended the 2022–23 season in dire straits, losing six of the final seven games—a last-day victory over relegated Morecambe was the only win. They struggled on the road last year, gaining only 21 points from 23 games, conceding 41 in the process.
Pompey, on the other hand, enjoyed a fruitful season in front of their own fans, picking up 38 points in 23 games.
The 1.90 is a generous offering for promotion-chasing Pompey.
- Selection: Portsmouth Win
- Best Odds: 1.90
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 10/10

Crewe vs Newport: Fortress Gresty Road
England, League Two, Tuesday, August 15th, 19:45 (UK)
The last selection comes from Cheshire, as Newport County travel to Gresty Road to play Crewe Alexandra. Crewe have started the season with two draws, battling from 2-0 down to draw at home to Mansfield and then at Swindon. Lee Bell’s side also beat Championship Sunderland away on penalties in the EFL Cup.
Alex ended last season in fantastic home form, winning five straight at Gresty Road, scoring 2+ in all five. The wins were even more impressive when looking at the calibre of the opponents; Salford (7th), Barrow (9th), Walsall (16th), Swindon (10th), and Bradford (6th) all fell victim to Crewe.
On the other hand, Newport has had a mixed start to the season, opening with a 3-0 defeat at Accrington before thumping Doncaster 4-0 at Rodney Parade. The Exiles underwent a poor summer window, losing key players, and are expecting a battle near the bottom.
However, bet365 has priced Newport as a 2.40 favourite for this tie. At 3.00, I am happy to get Crewe onside.
- Selection: Crewe
- Best Odds: 3.00
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10
