Odds correct from bet365 as at 17:00 January 13th 2022 Odds may now differ.
Selection 1: Carlisle United vs Crawley Town – Crawley to Win at 3.40
The billing
The side on the verge of going from disarray to mediocrity meets the side on the verge of going from mediocrity to being half-decent.
Hosts’ form
Carlisle come into this game off the back of four wins in five, and have added pace and strength in attack recently with the signings of Tyrese Omotoye on loan from Norwich and Omari Patrick from Burton.
Visitors’ form
Crawley are hoping Caleb Watts, on loan from Southampton, can add further pace and quality to a Red Devils side that have won three games in succession. One or two more positive results and John Yems’ troops could be considered Play-Off outsiders.
The Tactics Board
Crawley will look to full-back turned midfielder George Francomb to feed a narrow front-three, while Carlisle will play early balls into Sam Fishburn and Jon Mellish, with the likes of Jordan Gibson and Patrick picking up the pieces.
Prediction & Best Bet
Crawley are better-placed for a fourth successive victory at Brunton Park than perhaps the odds of 3.40 imply.
Selection 2: Colchester United vs Barrow – Barrow to Win at 2.88
The billing
“Underachieving” is a word applicable to both sides, for different reasons. Colchester could claim they should be faring better with their squad, while Barrow are underperforming their xG.
Hosts’ form
Colchester are hoping on-loan striker Corrie Andrews can fix the attacking troubles that have seen the U’s find the net just 17 times in 22 league games. Andrews started ok in the midweek 2-0 loss at Forest Green, but one wonders – if he were a potential game-changer at this level – why have parent club AFC Wimbledon not deemed him capable of playing a part in the one above?
Visitors’ form
Barrow have loaned in defender Anthony Driscoll-Glennon from Burnley, as well as strikers Will Harris and Jacob Wakeling from Sunderland and Leicester respectively, hoping either can give the Bluebirds the clinical final third edge they have missed so far this season. Mark Cooper’s side did manage four goals in the FA Cup at Barnsley, though: all with 10 men.
The Tactics Board
The visitors could control much of the play, with Tom White and Ollie Banks pulling the strings in Essex. Colchester’s job will be to counter that with the frenetic tenacity of Brendan Wiredu and the matured positional awareness of his midfield partner, Cole Skuse.
Prediction & Best Bet
Barrow are the stronger side and look excellent value for the victory at 2.88.

Selection 3: Exeter City vs Scunthorpe United – Exeter to Win at 1.60
The billing
Scunthorpe won promotion in this fixture in April 2014, despite ending their 25-game unbeaten run on the day. Nowadays, the Iron are underdogs at promotion-chasing Exeter.
Hosts’ form
With Sam Nombe injured, Exeter are hoping recruit Offrande Zanzala can find form, although the finishing touches often eluded the speedy striker in the first half of the season at Barrow.
Visitors’ form
Scunthorpe chairman Peter Swann opted to cash in on key striker Ryan Loft, who went to Bristol Rovers this month, but the upshot is that there is now a lot of pressure on Blackburn loanee Sam Burns to hit the ground running for the relegation strugglers.
The Tactics Board
Much of Exeter’s creativity comes from full-backs Josh Key and Jake Caprice, both of whom give the Grecians an inverted option: Key, because he likes to wind himself into the side of the penalty area and Caprice, because he’s a right-footer on the left. Scunthorpe have shown some signs of resurgence under Keith Hill with a diamond system, but the risk with it is that Key and Caprice end up getting acres of space to work their magic.
Prediction & Best Bet
Exeter will be confident of a routine victory here and are rightly favourites at 1.60.

Selection 4: Port Vale vs Swindon – Yes on Both Teams To Score at 1.83
The billing
These clubs have seen their promotion hopes take a hit through external factors, chiefly injuries for Vale and loan recalls for Swindon. Saturday is about getting back on track.
Hosts’ form
Vale have been out of league action since mid-December due to call-offs, but they did lose 4-1 at home to Premier League Brentford in the FA Cup this month. Since then, Darrell Clarke’s side have added left wing-back Chris Hussey and central defender Connor Hall to their ranks.
Visitors’ form
Swindon are hoping for a busy conclusion to the window, with the need to sign cover at centre-back, a replacement for Kaine Kesler – recalled by Villa – at right wing-back, possibly a left wing-back and an experienced striker to rotate with Tyreece Simpson.
The Tactics Board
The visitors will control possession, with Louis Reed at the centre of things, while Vale will be a tad brisker whilst looking to use the height in the side – which Hall and on-loan striker Ryan Edmondson adds to – combined with the deliveries from Conlon, Hussey and David Worrall.
Prediction & Best Bet
Both Teams To Score at 1.83 looks the value play here, with either side capable of carrying a threat in this promotion clash.

What is an EFL Acca?
An EFL Acca is a type of betting that involves combining several selections across different matches with one single stake. An acca or accumulator usually has at least four selections but it can include many many more. An EFL acca is one such bet that only involves matches from the EFL or English Football League, the second to the fourth tiers of English football. The benefits of an EFL acca are that the odds can be massive with a very small stake as the odds for all selections are multiplied together. Every pick needs to win or your EFL acca will lose.
