Selection 1: Accrington Stanley vs Sunderland – Accrington Stanley to Win at 4.00

The billing

One of the two smallest clubs in League One faces arguably the biggest – but this is the fourth season in a row in which the two have been in the same division, so the novelty of the fixture has somewhat worn off.

Hosts’ form

Stanley’s home form recently has been outstanding: John Coleman’s side held MK Dons with 10-men in the second half thanks to some heroic defending, they beat Rotherham 1-0 in East Lancashire and thrashed Fleetwood 5-1.

Visitors’ form

Sunderland took an ethical stance in agreeing to play the last two games despite absentees – but could that cost them automatic promotion? They drew at Wycombe and lost, deservedly, to Lincoln.

The Tactics Board

The battle of the tall Ross’. 6’5 Sykes was key to the brave, backs-against-the-wall second half display of rear-guard action against MK Dons that earned a point and will be looking to dominate for the Reds once again but will have his hands full against 6’2” Stewart, nicknamed “The Lochness Drogba” who was in inspired form in the 3-3 draw at Wycombe.

Prediction & Best Bet

Considering the scalps Stanley have pulled off, and the health issues in the Sunderland camp, the 4.00 on a home win looks chunky.

Selection 2: Bolton Wanderers vs Ipswich Town – Ipswich to Win at 2.25

The billing

Can new boy Aaron Morley inspire Bolton to end a four-game losing streak, or will Ipswich continue to close the gap on the Play-Offs under Kieran McKenna?

Hosts’ form

Whether it’s a deft caress, a neatly lofted diagonal, an effortless studded roller or a curver with a positive inflection, Morley is a delight to watch – but he’ll need to a bit more of the dirty work if he is to thrive in the step up.

Visitors’ form

The sign of a great manager is the ability to implement their ideas without needing a transfer window, and that is exactly what we are seeing with McKenna. Underlapping runs, constant rotation of moment and neat, one-touch football… we can already see the Irishman’s ideas coming to fruition, even in the first two games. Keep this up and the eight-point gap to the Play-Offs will be reduced at speed.

The Tactics Board

It’s one thing to say Gillingham were poor opposition last time out, but so much of Ipswich’s thumping victory at Priestfield was to do with their own excellent play. Town should be able to replicate that, even against slightly tougher opposition that won the reverse fixture 5-2 at Portman Road.

Prediction & Best Bet

If Ipswich keep playing the way they have been, they might not be available to back at odds-against quotes like 2.25 for too much longer.

More Bolton vs Ipswich Tips

Selection 3: Crewe Alexandra vs Shrewsbury Town – Crewe to Win at 3.25

The billing

Two sides who have been fearing the drop for much if not all the season, but are now – surprisingly, perhaps – among the division’s form teams.

Hosts’ form

Although Crewe remain firmly entrenched in a relegation dogfight, the good news for David Artell’s side – after Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat of Charlton – is that they have accrued nine points from the previous five games.

Get close to that form between now and May and the Alex will beat the drop comfortably – but of course, it’s not as simple as that.

Visitors’ form

Daniel Udoh’s Ronaldo celebration at Anfield encapsulates the mood at Shrewsbury right now, with Steve Cotterill’s troops having hauled themselves into midtable with a return of 10 points from their last nine games.

The Tactics Board

Crewe were short in the wing-back positions on Wednesday, so target man by trade Mika Mandron played on the right and right-back by trade Travis Johnson on the left. Both fared admirably, but David Artell will not want to have to juggle players around for too much longer.

Prediction & Best Bet

Crewe look decent value at 3.25, given their recent form – especially if the Railwaymen can use some of the money received from Blackpool for Owen Dale to bolster the squad with one or two additions before kick-off.

More Crewe vs Shrewsbury Tips

Selection 4: Fleetwood Town vs Rotherham United – Rotherham to Win at 1.53

The billing

Rotherham fans may be surprised that Fleetwood have been battling against relegation this term, having seen the Lancashire club convincingly defeat them 4-2 in the reverse fixture.

Hosts’ form

Fleetwood are looking to put some daylight between themselves and the bottom four, after a run of three wins in five, but the fact they drew at Morecambe – rather than won – means they are still just two points clear.

Visitors’ form

Rotherham will be wary of losing key target man Michael Smith, out of contract this year, to Cardiff should Burnley swoop for Kieffer Moore. In that scenario, Paul Warne could turn to Uche Ikpeazu at Middlesbrough – who has played just 47 minutes of league football since the change of manager – or Cole Stockton at Morecambe.

The Tactics Board

The key for Rotherham will be to get speedster Cheo Ogbene running at experienced left-back Danny Andrew. Do that and there could be chances galore for the two strikers.

Prediction & Best Bet

Rotherham are hot favourites at 1.53 and it’s easy to see why.

What is an EFL Acca?

An EFL Acca is a type of betting that involves combining several selections across different matches with one single stake. An acca or accumulator usually has at least four selections but it can include many many more. An EFL acca is one such bet that only involves matches from the EFL or English Football League, the second to the fourth tiers of English football. The benefits of an EFL acca are that the odds can be massive with a very small stake as the odds for all selections are multiplied together. Every pick needs to win or your EFL acca will lose.
