Denmark vs England Prediction: Euro 2024 Team News and Lineups Preview

After Gareth Southgate’s men squeezed past Serbia to occupy first spot in Euro 2024 Group C, Nathan Joyes steps up to provide his Denmark vs England prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview.
Jude Bellingham’s goal was enough to see the Three Lions secure all three points and while the points are the priority, the manner of that win will have concerned England fans. Denmark, on the other hand, will be after revenge after their semi-final defeat in 2021 after drawing their opening match with Slovenia.
- Denmark vs England Tip 1: Draw

- Denmark vs England Tip 3: Denmark +1.5 Asian Handicap Corners
Denmark vs England Prediction 1: A point apiece
England, Euro 2024, Thursday, June 20th, 17:00 (UK)
It appeared to be a tale of two halves as England edged past Serbia in their opening match, and once again there were plenty of questions for Gareth Southgate to answer at full-time.
Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham was perhaps the only shining light across the 90 minutes and England had to rely on his magnificent header to avoid starting their Euros campaign on a negative note.
The use of Kieran Trippier at left-back didn’t allow Phil Foden to find his rhythm on the left hand side which we have seen all season long for Manchester City, while many are still on the fence around Trent Alexander-Arnold’s midfield role.
A slight heart in mouth situation when the Liverpool player lost the ball in the first half, allowing Aleksander Mitrovic a shot on goal, is exactly what people were worried about heading into the tournament.
Nevertheless, Marc Guehi and John Stones stood tall at the back, while Jordan Pickford covered what was thrown his way. England shouldn’t be concerned about conceding many in their group, at least.
Denmark will arguably England’s toughest test, and although they drew with Slovenia, their high energy and press may just disrupt England’s rhythm. We saw at the Qatar World Cup how England can underperform in certain matches, and Denmark might well seek revenge in Frankfurt.

Denmark vs England Prediction 2: Tight tussle expected
Unfortunately for England fans, they have become accustomed to low-scoring affairs over the years, and this match might not be any different.
An xG of just 0.54 against Serbia will have the Twitter tactical analysts wildly tapping away on their keyboards, but with just three shots on target it’s difficult to argue with them.
Southgate’s side also only conjured up one corner across the entire 90 minutes, and with the amount of attacking quality England possess in the final third, it was alarming to see such a lethargic performance. If England are to justify their battle for favouritism with the French, we’ll need to see much more from them.
Sadly, that doesn’t look forthcoming, especially against an underrated Danish side. Although they dropped valuable points against Slovenia, their performance arguably justified all three points.
Able to attack down the channels or allow Christian Eriksen to dictate play through the middle, England may once again have to defend more than they’d like.
We once again witnessed Southgate struggle to create anything meaningful going forward once taking the lead, which is once again another worrying sign.
It won’t be the most glamorous bet you’ll see in our Euro 2024 content, but it’s difficult to see this game exploding into life.
- Denmark vs England Prediction 2: Under 2.5 Goals
- Best Odds: 1.72

Denmark vs England Prediction 3: Danish corner fest
With the odds so heavily in favour of England throughout the tournament, this creates an opportunity for the Danes in a few alternative markets. However, I’ve landed on the corner one as England are odds-on across this particular market and it’s difficult to see why.
As mentioned, England only won one corner in the entire 90 minutes vs Serbia. When England go ahead, we see a different side to their game, and it’s not exactly the most positive one. Aside from one or two counters in the second half, it was as dull as it gets.
Denmark, although admittedly chasing the match once Slovenia equalised, impressed with their intensity and secured nine corners of their own.
In their opening match, Denmark weren’t shy when it came to shooting, finishing with 16 shots and an xG of 1.72. Whether it was utilising their wingers, or letting Eriksen find pockets of space in the middle, the Danes looked dangerous and were willing to take the game to Slovenia.
Admittedly, England are far superior to Slovenia, but Denmark won’t be worried by what they saw and there’s no reason for them to change their approach.
If goals aren’t expected in this tie, and if the value lies with the draw, it makes perfect sense to back the underdogs on the corner handicap.
When these two nations last met at the last Euros, both finished with three corners each at Wembley, and I firmly believe once again England have been overestimated heading into their second Euros match.
- Denmark vs England Prediction 3: Denmark +1.5 Asian Handicap Corners
- Best Odds: 1.90
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10

Denmark vs England Euro 2024 Team News and Possible Lineups: To start Trent or to not start Trent?
The whole Trent Alexander-Arnold midfield debate will have continued long into the night after England’s victory over Serbia, but it’s given Southgate plenty to mull over once again.
There’s no doubt the 25-year-old is one of the most talented players in the England squad, but his defensive issues in such a role do raise a few questions. Against Denmark, it will be interesting to see if the manager trusts him once again in the same role.
Many were unimpressed with Phil Foden’s performance, but if Luke Shaw is to return at left-back in place of Kieran Trippier, this may offer him more freedom in the final third.
Christian Eriksen stood out as Denmark’s main player once again against Slovenia, and the Manchester United midfielder will need to be carefully watched on Thursday evening. Allowed too much space, he could once again dictate play and cause England problems.
Denmark possible starting lineup:
Schmeichel; Vestergaard, Andersen, Christensen, Kristiansen, Hojbjerg, Hjuland, Bah, Eriksen, Hojlund, Wind
