Internacional vs Bolivar: Brazilians to breeze into semi-finals
Brazil, Copa Libertadores, Tuesday 28th August, 23:00 (UK)
Bolivar blew their chance at progressing to the semi-finals after a disappointing 1-0 loss in La Paz. Despite their sublime record at altitude against Brazilian clubs, Enner Valencia’s early goal was enough to come away victorious. This was only their second-ever victory in Bolivia in the club’s history, showing the sizable task in which they managed well.
Out of the high altitude, Bolivar has struggled this season. With heavier balls and players often dehydrated much sooner, Internacional will look to deliver the hammer blow required.
Bolivar suffered a 4-0 loss to Palmeiras in the final group match and never had a sniff in front of goal. Internacional have been fantastic in this tournament, and having knocked out River Plate in the previous round, this should be a formality for them.
Inter and their new manager, Eduard Coudet, aren’t known for blowing teams away – and although this could end up a massacre, backing a win to nil seems a sensible play.

Palmeiras vs Pereira: Favourites to have fun against their Colombian opponents
Brazil, Copa Libertadores, Thursday 31st August, 01:30 (UK)
Palmeiras simply blew away Pereira in Colombia. Despite the hostile environment, Abel Fereira’s men managed to put four past the overachievers in this year’s tournament – and it could have been more.
With one foot firmly in the semi-finals, one might expect Fereira to take it easy back in Brazil. Well, unfortunately for the Colombians, that won’t be happening. One or two rotations may allow for some fresh legs, but Palmeiras will want to keep their fine form going. With a couple of players looking for the Golden Boot, this is another prime opportunity to add to their tallies. Hopefully, Artur can add to his five, as he’s our outright selection for the trophy: Copa Libertadores Outright Betting Preview.
Pereira were pulled apart in the first leg, and I’m expecting a similar scenario in Brazil. Their confidence will be low, and going to the overall favourites back yard is far from ideal. Palmeiras has won every home match in the Libertadores this campaign.
In fact, beyond the Libertadores, the club has only lost two of its last 20 matches in front of their own supporters.
A repeat scoreline can be backed at 9.50 for those looking for more adventurous prices, but with the Asian Handicap mark extremely short, there’s more value on Palmeiras to put on a show in both halves for their supporters.

São Paulo vs LDU Quito: Moura and Co to edge into next round
Brazil, Copa Sudamericana, Thursday 31st August, (23:00) (UK)
LDU Quito landed us a winning selection last week, but Lucas Moura’s second-half goal keeps our ante-post selection alive.
Sao Paulo struggled in the high altitude, which was expected, but similar to Internacional, they should be more themselves back at home.
Their Sudamericana goalscorer was rested at the weekend against America MG, and the former Spurs midfielder will be fit and ready for the second leg.
Away from home, LDU Quito has performed admirably in the tournament. They haven’t lost away on the road, which also includes a 0-0 draw away to Botafogo. However, the Brazilians had heavily rotated on that occasion. Next up was Chilean outfit Nublense, who are nowhere near the level of Sao Paulo.
As a result, we can take their away form with a slight pinch of salt.
Sao Paulo fought back bravely from a one-goal deficit in the previous round against San Lorenzo. Goals either half from Jonathan Calleri and Lucas Moura sunk them without a trace.
With 66% possession, eight corners and twelve shots, Sao Paulo had San Lorenzo penned in – who didn’t muster a shot on target all match.
LDU Quito will know if they attack, it’ll leave spaces for the likes of James Rodriguez and Lucas Moura to exploit. However, sitting back will invite plenty of pressure and could be a disaster for them.
Sao Paulo has the attacking quality to at least take this to extra time. Yet an early goal in the first half will make for an exciting match, and hopefully, they can overturn their Ecuadorian defeat, and LDU Quito will struggle to cope in Brazil.
- Selection: Sao Paulo -1 Asian Handicap
- Best Odds: 1.80
