We’re back with more Championship best bets this Saturday. England’s second tier rolls back around after a handful of midweek fixtures provide the backdrop to Saturday’s main event. We’ll be visiting Blackburn, Nottingham and Bristol here at bettingexpert News, in the hunt for three profitable selections.

  • Blackburn vs Blackpool: Blackburn 0.0 Asian Cards (1.95)
  • Bristol City vs Peterborough: BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals (2.05)
  • Nottingham Forest vs Birmingham City: Forest Win and Over 1.5 Goals (2.15)

Championship Treble Odds: 8.39

Blackburn vs Blackpool Best Bet

Sat. 9th April, 15:00 (UK time)

Although at home and favourites to win the game, there is an argument here that bet365 have priced Blackburn incorrectly in the proposed selection.

In the Asian Handicap Cards match bet, Blackburn 0.0 is priced at 1.950 and Blackpool 0.0 at 1.850. For those who rarely take the Asian Handicap route, 0.0 essentially takes the draw out of the equation. For example, if both teams are shown two yellow cards, we’ll receive our stakes back.

The Seasiders average 1.72 cards received per90 away from home this season. Blackburn lead both the Championship’s home (2.25) and away (2.70) cards per90 averages. As you can see, this Rovers outfit are no strangers to a caution.

Blackburn outperformed their opponents when analysing the entire campaign, but how do they fare recently?

Well, only 3 of the last 10 Blackpool fixtures have seen the visitors end the 90-minutes with the most cards. Interestingly, from the same sample size, just 3 of Rovers’ recent ten fixtures had the 0.0 handicap fall short for punters.

So, recent form and stats dating back to August have Blackburn as the standouts. Next up, Matt Donohue is in the spotlight.

The man with the whistle has given out a whopping 110 cards in 25 games this season. That’s a 4.33 cards per90 average with his sizeable 7 red cards providing the rouge-coloured icing on the cake.

In terms of home and away statistics making up Donohue’s busy season, it’s a close call. Averaging 2.24 home bookings per90 and 2.32 for away sides, the slight advantage isn’t one to sing home about.

Away from laborious booking statistics (apologies), Blackburn simply needs three points. Both Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough rub shoulders in the Championship standings and have played fewer games.

Points on the board are all that matters now in the race for the playoffs. If things don’t go to plan on Saturday, expect tempers to flare.

  • Selection: Blackburn 0.0 Asian Card Handicap
  • Best Odds: 1.950 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 10/10

Bristol City vs Peterborough Best Bet

Sat. 9th April, 15:00 (UK time)

Bristol City rank in the top percentile for BTTS and over 2.5 goals in the Championship. The Robins’ 24 of 40 games winning the selection overshadows QPR in second with 19 of 40.

It’s difficult to envisage a lack of goals here. However, that could be said every weekend when Bristol City rolls into town.

Yet, this Peterborough side are desperate. Eleven points off safety with six games left, the writing is on the wall. In their position, they have nothing to lose. With desperation comes mistakes and chances at either end, something I’m hoping to capitalise on here.

Bristol City took all three points in a 2-3 away win in the October head-to-head between the pair. If we can get another end to end repeat on Saturday, the 2.10 available at Boylesports could prove to be a snatch and grab.

  • Selection: BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals
  • Best Odds: 2.10 (Boylesports)
  • Stakes: 10/10

Nottingham Forest vs Birmingham Best Bet

Sat. 9th April, 15:00 (UK time)

Steve Cooper sent an unchanged eleven out to face Coventry on Wednesday. Expectedly for most in Nottingham, it was an unchanged result. There is a feel-good atmosphere taking hold of a fraction of the city, largely thanks to a genuine promotion push.

Cooper’s squad is one that can compete with the Championship’s best. Bringing on Grabban, Surridge, and Lolley to compete with a tiring Coventry side tells all you need to know. The strength and depth at The City Ground, coupled with current form, should be enough for top six.

I imagine you won’t be overly surprised that it’s the home team I’ll be siding with once again here at bettingexpert. Forest are now unbeaten in nine games in the division, with every chance to make it into double figures.

Birmingham City poses the next task, fresh off the back of a home win against The Baggies. It shouldn’t be a walkover, but the visitors’ 1.65 goals conceded per90 away figure suggests potential joy of the Forest variety.

Forest have banked this wager in five of their last six matches, including four on the trot. Priced at 2.15 with Premier League football in their sights, it seems like a price to grab with both hands.

  • Selection: Nottingham Forest Win and Over 1.5 Goals
  • Best Odds: 2.15 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 10/10

WHAT IS A CHAMPIONSHIP ACCA?

A  Championship acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A Championship acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create Championship accas which is what we have created here. If one of these selections loses then the Championship acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
