Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid: Bayern Need an Advantage
Europe, Champions League, Tuesday, 30th April, 20:00 (UK)
The first of this week’s Champions League semi-final is a clash of the titans. This is Bayern Munich’s last chance of silverware this season and Thomas Tuchel has proven himself to be an astute tactician in Europe. Bayern will be disappointed with the way their domestic campaign has unfolded but a win on Tuesday would give them hope of salvaging success from a poor season.
Taking an advantage into the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu is hugely important for Bayern. They have the firepower to do some damage here so expect them to rack up a decent number of shots as they chase a win. Tuchel’s side are averaging 16.6 shots per Champions League game at the Allianz Arena this season. They have had 15 attempts or more in four of those five matches. Bayern are averaging 19.7 shots per home game across all competitions this season.
Real Madrid’s five away matches in the Champions League have seen them concede an average of 16.4 shots in the 90 minutes of regulation time. This bet has won in three of those five matches.
- Selection: Over 14.5 Shots For Bayern Munich (TRACKED BET)

Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid: Cagey affair?
Europe, Champions League, Tuesday, 30th April, 20:00 (UK)
Real Madrid are the undisputed kings of the Champions League. They dug deep the beat Manchester City on penalties in the last round. Carlo Ancelotti’s men were the underdogs in that tie, but they are now the favourites to go on and lift the trophy. Carlo has no equal in terms of European success as a manager. His team already have one hand on the La Liga trophy but it is this competition that matters in the Spanish capital.
Los Blancos’ matches have seen the second-fewest throws in the Champions League this season, with an average of 27.2 per game. Bet365 have set the throw-ins line at 33.5. There have been 33 throws or less in all 10 of their matches in this competition thus far.
First legs can be cagey affairs. Bayern Munich likes to dominate possession and can calmly play through the opposition press. They showcased this ability in the clash with Arsenal at the Allianz Arena. There were just 28 throws in that match, and I expect another low throw count here.
- Selection: Under 33.5 Throws In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.80

- Stake: 8/10
Dortmund vs PSG: Group Stage Clash is an Indicator
Europe, Champions League, Wednesday, 1st May, 20:00 (UK)
Dortmund were thumped by RB Leipzig at the weekend but they had one eye on this showdown with PSG. Edin Terzic’s side haven’t been at their best this season. They are the underdogs here, but know they can cause an upset after coming from behind to beat Atletico Madrid in the last round.
Luis Enrqiue’s side triumphed at the Camp Nou in the last round. A red card for Barcelona allowed the Parisians to take control of the match. They are now just two games away from just their second Champions League final.
The German sides’ matches have seen an average of 38 tackles in the Champions League this season; only Benfica and Salzburg matches had more. This rises to an average of 40.6 if we only include their games at Signal Iduna Park.
PSG matches in this competition also rank highly in terms of tackles. Their matches have seen an average of 37 tackles, the fourth most in the Champions League. The bookmaker’s line is a little higher for this one, but it’s easy to see why. There were 49 tackles when these sides clashed at this ground in the group stages. Enrique’s side’s win over Barcelona in their last European match saw 42 tackles.
- Selection: Over 39.5 Tackles In The Match (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.90
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10
