The English Premier League sides are the focus on Tuesday night. Manchester City take on Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu as they aim to become just the second side to retain this trophy since it was rebranded as the Champions League. Arsenal are looking to cap off a miserable season for Bayern Munich.

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich: Bayern in the Firing Line

Europe, Champions League, Tuesday, 9th April, 20:00 (UK)

It may be Arsenal’s first season back in the Champions League but they are the favourites to make it through this tie with Bayern Munich. The Gunners are top of the Premier League and will fancy their chances in this competition. They have never been crowned European champions but this could be their year.

Bayern Munich brought in Harry Kane in the summer to get them over the line in this tournament but the season hasn’t gone to plan. They have all but relinquished their Bundesliga crown and will be looking for a new manager come the end of the season. Thomas Tuchel’s face a trophyless season if they are unable to upset the odds and win the Champions League.

Mikel Arteta’s side know the importance of winning the first leg. They will look to take the game to a Bayern side that have lost their last two matches. Arsenal are averaging 16.29 shots per home game in 2024. They had 20 shots in their impressive 3-0 win over Brighton at the weekend.

Bayern took on Arsenal’s title rivals, Manchester City in the knockout stages of this competition last season. They conceded 17 shots in that fixture and have regressed since that game. Expect Arsenal to have a similar amount of shots here.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City: City Trend to Continue

Europe, Champions League, Tuesday, 9th April, 20:00 (UK)

Real Madrid have home advantage in the first leg and need a win. They lost 4-0 the last time they faced Manchester City at the Etihad and are the outsiders in this tie. Carlo Ancelotti’s side have one hand on the La Liga trophy, but the Champions League is king in the Spanish capital.

Manchester City beat Real Madrid last season on their way to winning the Champions League. Pep Guradiola’s side also lifted the Premier League and FA Cup and are in with a chance of replicating that feat this term.

Madrid matches in the Champions League this campaign have seen an average of 27.88 throws per game; only Manchester City’s have seen fewer. There were just 24 throws when they welcomed Pep’s side to the Bernabeu last season.

City matches in this competition have seen 25.38 throws on average. There have been 31 throws or less in all eight of Manchester City’s matches in this competition thus far. This bet has also landed in their last four matches overall.

PSG vs Barcelona: Parisian pressure

Europe, Champions League, Wednesday, 10th April, 20:00 (UK)

Luis Enrique takes on his former side on Wednesday night as he aims to steer PSG to their first Champions League triumph. The club have spent exorbitant sums since being taken over by Qatar Sports Investments. PSG now dominates Ligue 1 season after season, but lifting the UCL trophy has become an obsession.

Barcelona last tasted European success under Luis Enrique. Xavi was still playing for that win but now he will look to deal a blow to his former boss as a manager himself. The Catalan side are unbeaten in 11 matches coming into this one but snatching top spot off Real Madrid in La Liga is a tall order.

PSG are averaging 16.27 shots per home game this season in all competitions. This rises to 18.75 if we only include the data from their Champions League matches. They will want to take an advantage to Camp Nou so expect them to be on the front foot.

Barcelona are conceding 11.8 shots per away game this season. However, they conceded 17 in their last first-leg clash with PSG. Enrique’s men are capable of hitting a similar number, and they’ll want to take advantage of Camp Nou, so expect them to be on the front foot.
