Ajax vs Napoli Preview
Tuesday, October 4th, 20:00 (UK)
Napoli have been one of the most impressive teams in Europe so far this season. They are 1st in Serie A and top of their Champions League group. Luciano Spalletti’s men followed up their impressive 4-1 win over Liverpool by beating Rangers 3-0 at Ibrox. They won’t let up here.
Group A is a fiercely competitive group. Napoli will have to remain focused to ensure they don’t relinquish their grip on top spot. A defeat in Amsterdam could mean that three teams in the group end the matchday on six points.
Ajax are adjusting to life after Erik Ten Hag. They are currently one point off the pace in the Eredivisie and occupy 3rd spot in Group A. They come into this match as favourites but the visitors have taken my fancy here.
Ajax vs Napoli Best Bet
Napoli are unbeaten so far this season. They managed to put huge pressure on Liverpool in their first group game; the same Liverpool side that kept Ajax pinned in their own half on matchday two. Gli Azzurri have won each of their last six matches in all competitions and confidence is high. The same may not be true for the side from Amsterdam. Ajax haven’t won any of their last three games in all competitions. The draw at home to the Go Ahead Eagles at the weekend was particularly disappointing. Expect form to continue here.
- Selection: Napoli To Win
- Best Odds: 3.10 (Betfred)
- Stakes: 7/10
Inter Milan vs Barcelona Preview
Tuesday, October 4th, 20:00 (UK)
It’s an eye-catching clash between two of Europe’s biggest sides as Inter Milan host Barcelona. The Catalans were unlucky to lose to Bayern in their last group match and sit 2nd in Group C. It’s vital they bounc back with a win here. Barca were wasteful in front of goal at the Allianz, spurning 18 attempts to the hosts’ 13. Robert Lewandowski will be eager to add to his 89 Champions League goals on Tuesday.
Inter have lost half of their games in all competitions to start this season. That includes each of their last two league matches. They are well off the pace in the league, languishing in 9th place after eight games. But Barcelona won’t take this game lightly. Defeat would see Xavi’s side drop to 3rd place in the group.
Inter Milan vs Barcelona Best Bet
Inter haven’t beaten Barcelona in any of the last four meetings between the sides. The visitors are arguably stronger now than the last time the teams met.
I fancy Barcelona to take the three points here. They top La Liga on goal difference but the Champions League is what truly drives Barcelona. This new-look side possesses a wealth of options and they should have too much for Inter here.
- Selection: Barcelona To Win
- Best Odds: 1.85 (Bwin)
- Stakes: 8/10

Porto vs Leverkusen Preview
Tuesday, October 4th, 20:00 (UK)
Leverkusen have endured a difficult start to their domestic season. They sit one place from bottom in the Bundesliga after a run of one win from eight. Europe has provided something of a respite for them. They are 2nd in Group B after an impressive win over Atletico Madrid on matchday 2.
Things have been the other way around for the side from Portugal. FC Porto have no points in the Champions League after a 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Club Brugge last time out. They will need to win here to have any hope of qualifying for the knockout stages.
Porto vs Leverkusen Best Bet
This should mean they attack from the off. They beat Braga 4-1 at the weekend in front of their home fans, so I’m hoping they carry that confidence into this one. Porto’s last five home matches in European competitions have produced an average of 7.2 corners per game. They are also averaging seven corners per match so far this season.
Porto to have six corners or more in the match is priced at 2.25 with bet365. It’s a good angle given how important three points are for the home side. Leverkusen were dismantled by Bayern on Friday night and should be low on confidence coming into this one.
- Selection: Over 5 Corners For Porto
- Best Odds: 2.25 (bet365)
- Stakes: 7/10
