Champions League Best Bets: Tuesday, July 11th
The greatest club competition is back underway for the 23/24 campaign. We saw Manchester City earn their first title in Istanbul just over four weeks ago, there’s a while until we witness the best clubs in Europe compete, but the qualifying process provides some intriguing fixtures. Here at bettingexpert Expert Insights, we have selected three bets for Tuesday’s action.

Hamrun vs M. Haifa Preview
Champions League, Tuesday, July 9th, 19:00 (UK)
Hamrun quite literally ran away with the title in Malta last season; they amassed 69 points from a possible 78, nearly double what they achieved the previous year. They scored 22 and conceded just once at home, winning 12 of the 13 matches.
Luciano Zauri’s hosts are a tough side to crack with Bulgarian outfit Levski, the only side to beat them since early 2022. Alashkert, Velez Mostar, and most notably, Partizan, all conceded on their travels here over the last 12 months.
M. Haifa found themselves in Group H in last season’s competition alongside Juventus, PSG and Benfica, which proved a tough test. The Israelian side lost five of their six fixtures and conceded 21, 12 of which arrived in their three away ties.
The visitors will be expected to have their work cut out here, especially in defensive areas. They’ve managed just four shutouts in their 19 away trips across league and European matches.
Hamrun vs M. Haifa Best Bet
Hamrun are huge outsiders, priced at 9.00, but this game could be a little closer than the odds suggest. The importance of getting a positive result here couldn’t be more significant for the side from Malta.
Elvis Mashike has proven to be a great swoop; the 29-year-old bagged 21 times in his debut season since his move from Slovakia. He’ll most certainly be the Dangerman and could be the one who gets this selection over the line.
- Selection: Hamrun Over 0.5 Goals
- Best Odds: 1.83 (bet365)
- Stakes: 5/10
FC Ballkani vs Ludogorets Preview
Champions League, Tuesday, July 9th, 19:45 (UK)
Ludogorets finished their 22/23 campaign in superb style, they won the title and the Bulgarian Cup, and I’m confident they can kickstart their new season in winning fashion as they head to Pristina.
FC Ballkani retained their title in Kosovo last campaign. They ended the season strongly but will have their work cut out at Stadiumi Fadil Vokrri. In the previous campaign, they competed in the Conference League but finished last with just four points.
The Bulgarian side fought Real Betis and Roma in the Europa League last campaign and gave a respectable account of themselves. They beat Jose Mourinho’s side in Razgrad with narrow defeats in each clash with the Spanish giants.
Ivaylo Petev’s side won 14 of their 17 clashes on the back end of last season; they’ve started the current campaign with a trio of wins in friendly matches without conceding a goal.
FC Ballkani vs Ludogorets Best Bet
I just feel the difference in class is relatively stark here. Ludogorets have plenty of experience on the big stage and have proven they can give some of the strongest clubs in Europe a tough test.
The price does appeal at 1.90, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they went off shorter closer to kick-off.
- Selection: Ludogorets To Win
- Best Odds: 1.90 (bet365)
- Stakes: 5/10

Shamrock Rovers vs Breidablik Preview
Champions League, Tuesday, July 9th, 19:45 (UK)
Shamrock Rovers and Breidablik may not appear to be the most enthralling of names, but this tie is one of the standouts of the round for me.
The hosts currently lead the Irish Premier Division after 25 rounds. No side has scored more than Stephen Bradley’s side when playing at home, whilst only two sides have shipped more at the opposite end.
Breidablik are the current Icelandic champions but sit in 3rd this campaign; they’ve scored 30 with 21 going in at the other end in just 14 matchdays, 3.64 goals on average. Only one side has stopped them from finding the back of the net in the top flight.
Backing goals seems the sensible angle. BTTS is at an attractive price, with the overs not far behind. The Irish side has scored in every home game this season, with BTTS cashing in seven of those affairs.
Oskar Thorvaldsson’s side arrive here as underdogs, although their price has shortened significantly since the markets were first released. They’ve bagged multiple times in each of their last eight matches in all competitions.
Shamrock Rovers vs Breidablik Best Bet
With goals a constant theme amongst these sides, a price of 1.83 for both sides to hit the back of the net seems a valuable selection. The respective attacks appear to be the best form of defence, more often than not, when these sides are in action.
Goals are scored by many players in the Shamrock squad, whilst Stefan Ingi Sigurdarson and Gisli Eyjolfsson have been the main threats in attack for the visitors this season.
I expect an entertaining watch with both sides on the scoresheet in Dublin.
- Selection: BTTS – Yes
- Best Odds: 1.83 (bet365)
- Stakes: 6/10
Odds via bet365 as at 19:00 July 9th 2023. Odds may now differ.
