Borussia Dortmund vs Darmstadt: Terzic Wanting to Build Momentum

Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, 18th May, 14:30 (UK)

Borussia Dortmund hammered Augsburg 5-1 last weekend. They are 5th in the Bundesliga but they know they have secured a place amongst Europe’s elite for next season thanks to an additional qualification spot awarded due to the UEFA coefficient. Edin Terzic’s side have the Champions League final to look forward to but they should be at full strength here with that game not being played until June 1st.

Darmstadt’s fate has been sealed for quite some time. They are bottom of the league having amassed a total of just 17 points in 33 matches. Torsten Lieberknecht’s side have won just two matches on the road all season.

Dortmund had 21 shots as they hammered Augsburg last weekend. Terzic’s side will be better rested coming into this one with no European game midweek so they should rack up plenty of shots against the league’s bottom team. Dortmund last hosted Darmstadt in 2016. They managed 22 shots in that one.

Lieberknecht’s side are conceding the third most shots in the league with an average of 16.88. This increases to 19.5 in their matches on the road. They conceded 21 shots in their last away game against Wolfsburg.

  • Selection:  Over 20.5 Shots For Dortmund (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Eintracht Frankfurt vs RB Leipzig: Two Sides Going Through the Motions?

Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, 18th May, 14:30 (UK)

Eintracht Frankfurt have picked up just one win in their last eight matches but they are still on course to qualify for the Europa League. They could fall behind Hoffenheim and into 7th this weekend but that seems unlikely given that their rivals for 6th face Bayern Munich.

RB Leipzig are guaranteed 4th place going into the final league game. They are four points ahead of Dortmund but six points behind Stuttgart. Marco Rose’s side haven’t tasted defeat in 11 matches across all competitions but will want to get back to winning ways after drawing their last two.

Despite being one of the stronger sides in the Bundesliga, Frankfurt have had the second-fewest shots per game in the league. Their matches have seen an average of 24.03 shots overall, less than any other sides in Germany’s top flight. There have been 27 shots or less in seven of their eight league matches at the Waldstadion in 2024.

There were just 18 shots when RB Leipzig visited this ground last season. In fact, this bet has won on their last three trips to face Eintracht Frankfurt.

  • Selection: Under 27.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Heidenheim vs Koln: Last Chance Saloon For Koln

Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, 18th May, 14:30 (UK)

Heidenheim were promoted from the second tier of German football last season but have never looked in danger of going down in this campaign. A European place is just beyond their reach going into this one but they will be delighted with how this season has panned out.

The same cannot be said for Koln. A win over Union Berlin last weekend has given them a glimmer of hope but they need to win here and hope other results go their way to have any hope of survival. Even then they would face a nerve-racking relegation playoff.

Heidenheim have nothing to play for here but it promises to be an end-to-end game given how important it is for the visitors. There were 31 shots in the match when they last hosted Koln back in 2019. Both teams played in the second division back then.

Desperation has kicked in for Koln in recent weeks and their matches have seen plenty of shots as a result. There have been 31 attempts or more in five of their last seven games. Koln’s most recent away match against Mainz saw a total of 33 shots.

  • Selection: Over 30.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.83
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10
