Hoffenheim vs Dortmund: Goals, goals, goals, how do you like it?

Germany, Bundesliga, Friday, September 29th, 19:30 (UK)

Hoffenheim have enjoyed a fantastic start to the season. They narrowly lost 2-1 to Freiburg in their first match of the campaign, but a run of four straight victories has them 5th in the Bundesliga. The club have competed in Europe in the last decade but has recently been languishing nearer the bottom. They will be hoping this season signals the start of a brighter period.

Dortmund picked up a much-needed victory last weekend. They edged past Wolfsburg to climb into 6th, and they have the opportunity to enter the top four here. They looked solid at the back in their last game, but it has been a different story when playing on the road.

Hoffenheim have scored in all five of their Bundesliga matches so far. They are averaging 2.4 goals per game, but they have only managed to keep one clean sheet. Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side are conceding an average of 1.2 goals per game.

Both of Dortmund’s away matches so far this season have seen both teams score with an average of four goals per game. Dating back to last season, both teams have scored in six of their last seven matches on the road.

Girona vs Real Madrid: Goals outmuscling Tapas on the menu

Spain, La Liga, Saturday, September 30th, 17:30 (UK)

Girona have started the season exceptionally well and are in dreamland after six matches. They are joint top, level on points with Barcelona, and ahead of Real Madrid coming into this one. Michel’s team have won five games in a row, but they need to be ready for a stern test this weekend.

Real Madrid’s 100% record at the start of the season came to an end in emphatic fashion last weekend. They were beaten 3-1 by Atletico Madrid, and they have slipped the 3rd in the table. Carlo Ancelotti’s side had plenty of possession, but it is difficult to argue that they deserved anything from the game.

Girona have been in fine scoring form so far this season. They are averaging 2.67 goals per game, the same as Barcelona. They put five past Mallorca in their last home match, but the three goals they conceded have given Michel some food for thought ahead of Real Madrid’s visit.

Real Madrid lost 4-2 at this ground last season and haven’t won any of their last three matches against Girona. Nevertheless, both teams have scored in the previous eight games between these sides. Over this period, there has been an average of 4.75 goals per game.

Monaco vs Marseille: Living lavishly in Monaco

France, Ligue 1, Saturday, September 30th, 20:00 (UK)

Monaco would have been disappointed with their last campaign. They missed out on the opportunity to play European football and are looking to remedy that this season. The team are two points off the lead and in 4th at this stage. However, the Ligue 1 table is heavily congested and a couple of poor results could see them plummet.

Marseille are 7th but can leapfrog Monaco with a win. They were completely dominated by PSG last weekend. Jacques Abardonado’s team had just 23% possession and failed to muster a single shot on target. They should have more opportunities against Monaco.

Monaco’s matches have seen the most goals in the league with an average of 3.83 per game. The 1-0 loss to Nice was the first time they have failed to score this season. It is difficult to envisage them drawing a blank in consecutive home games. Adolf Hutter’s side are averaging 2.5 goals per game.

The loss in Paris was the first time that Marseille had failed to score on the road this season; including their Europa League trip to Amsterdam which ended 3-3. They beat Monaco 3-2 at this ground last season.

  • Selection: Both Teams To Score & Over 2.5 Goals
  • Best Odds: 1.73
