Monza vs Lecce: Both Sides To Oblige At Brianteo
Italy, Serie A, Sunday, September 17th, 14:00 (UK)
Not many would say that Monza vs Lecce is a game they’d be tuning into this weekend, but this clash could be a lot more entertaining than anticipated.
Monza have had two tricky away days. They’ve fought Inter and Atalanta and failed to find the back of the net despite taking 20 shots in those two outings. Their only home game of the season saw them win 2-0 against Empoli. The hosts racked up 20 shots and 2xG on the day.
Lecce have started impressively; 85th and 87th-minute goals completed a terrific comeback on the opening day at home to Lazio. Roberta D’Aversa’s side found themselves 2-0 down away to Fiorentina, but another impressive fightback saw them earn a point. A hard-fought 2-0 win over Salernitana sees them occupy 4th spot in the early stages.
Monza have scored in 16 of their last 20 games in Serie A at home, an impressive statistic. Atalanta, Milan, Lazio and Lecce are the only sides to have shut them out in that time.
Lecce scored just 15 times on the road last campaign, finding the back of the net in 10 of their 19 away days. The addition of Nikola Krstovic looks like a great piece of business. The Montenegrin has started the season in superb fashion, with goals in both appearances.
With Monza’s impressive goal record at home and Lecce’s impressive start to the campaign, backing both sides to score looks like a strong selection at a very reasonable price.

Leuven vs Gent: Leuven A Tough Test For Leaky League Leaders
Belgium, Jupiler Pro League, Sunday, September 17th, 15:30 (UK)
Gent is the only side yet to lose in the Belgian top flight so far this season. They face a Leuven side on Sunday evening who have won just once.
The hosts have had plenty of joy in attacking areas this campaign. They’ve scored in each outing so far, with eight coming in total. They earned their first three points of the season at Den Dreef in the most recent clash, so confidence levels should be relatively high heading into this one.
Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s side had a busy schedule. They’ve contested three Europa League Conference Qualifiers since late July. In their 11 matches this campaign in all competitions, Gent have found the back of the net in all with just a trio of clean sheets.
With attacking talent such as Hugo Cuypers and Gift Orban in the Gent ranks, I do not doubt that they’ll find the back of the net. Goals have been shared throughout the squad, and they certainly can score multiple times here.
The host’s record against Gent isn’t great, but they’ve now scored in ten consecutive games in the top flight. They’ll be up against it at home and are considerable underdogs, but I do expect them to continue their fine-scoring streak.
- Selection: BTTS & Over 2.5 Goals
- Best Odds: 1.83

- Stake: 7/10
Lyon vs Le Havre: Lacklustre Lyon Welcomes Rampant Le Havre
France, Ligue 1, Sunday, September 17th, 19:45 (UK)
Lyon are in a mess. That’s putting in nicely. They’ve scored three goals, earned one point, been hit for four in both home games and are bottom of the league. Oh, and they don’t have a manager.
Parc Olympique Lyonnais welcomes newcomers Le Havre on Sunday night. They have been amongst plenty of action in the early stages of the campaign and could prove to be a tough test.
The away side have earned five points from their opening four matches. They’ve scored eight goals, with six going in at the other end. Luka Elsner’s side have recorded 2-2 draws in both away days against Montpellier and Rennes, and they cannot be underestimated.
Lyon’s price to win is massively unappealing, but I expect some sort of a response from them after the horrific start. After their most recent defeat, the fans have already directed their opinions to the players. We may see an improvement in results, but I still can’t trust that set of players.
Le Havre have scored in every game, with multiple strikes arriving in three of those four. Lyon has a point to prove here, so backing goals looks the best bet. The proposed selection has cashed in a combined six games from eight between the pair.
- Selection: BTTS & Over 2.5 Goals
- Best Odds: 2.00
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10
