Brazil Serie A Top Goalscorer Predictions: Ante Post Tips
With the news breaking that Flamengo’s and Brasileirão’s top goalscorer Pedro is out for the season, our South American expert Nathan Joyes has moved quickly to provide his best Brazil Serie A top goalscorer ante post tips.
Pedro currently leads the way with 11 league goals, but having torn his ACL while on international duty, it appears unlikely that he will hold on to that title. Instead, here are three alternatives you should be marking up.
- Brazil Serie A Outright Tip 1: Hulk each way
- Brazil Serie A Outright Tip 2: Pablo Vegetti each way
- Brazil Serie A Outright Tip 3: Estevao each-way
Brazil Serie A Outright Prediction 1: Mineiro’s main man
Brazil Serie A, Saturday, September 14th, 23:00 (UK)
Despite turning 38, Hulk has shown no signs of slowing down as he looks to bow out with a trophy. That may not be with his club, but there’s every chance he can go on to land the golden boot by the end of 2024.
His track record speaks for itself. Hulk scored 19 goals in 35 matches in 2021, 12 in 25 the following season, and 15 in 34 league games last year. He has consistently been one of the best strikers in the league.
You don’t need me to tell you how powerful, strong and athletic he is. That hasn’t wavered as he approaches the big 4-0.
And so far this campaign, Hulk has scored seven goals in 14 appearances. A goal every two matches would almost definitely see him finish in the top three.
Before his recent injury and suspension, Hulk had scored back-to-back braces against Vasco and Corinthians. If he can recapture that form, he’s going to be one of the better options at his current price.
With his teammate Paulinho not showing the quality he did last year, it’s going to be Hulk who will be responsible for winning matches. On free-kick and penalty duty, it adds another tick to the Brazilian’s box for the second half of the season.
The recent four match suspension as well as returning from injury will put bettors off, but his record speaks for himself and it is up to Hulk to drag Mineiro into the top six.
- Brazil Serie A Goalscorer Prediction 1: Hulk each way
- Best Odds: 8.50
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 6/10
Brazil Serie A Outright Prediction 2: Vasco’s ruthless striker
Vasco currently occupy 8th place after 24 matches in what has already been a very strong season. One of the main reasons is down to their 35-year-old striker Pablo Vegetti, who is responsible for just under a third of their goals (eight).
The towering Argentine joined at the midway season last campaign and single handedly saved them from relegation. He scored 10 goals in just 21 appearances for a relegation threatened side, and he’s continued that fine form this season, too.
Standing at 6 foot 2, the former Belgrano forward dominates the box. Brazilian defenders struggle to compete with him aerially, but he’s also remarkably strong and technical with the ball at his feet in tight areas.
Vasco play a preferred 4-3-3 formation that can move into a 4-5-1, which allows them to spread the ball into wide positions and ultimately play to Vegetti’s strengths.
Another player who’s well into their 30s might not appeal to most, but there’s no one aerially better in the league than Vegetti. If Vasco’s impressive form continues, the Argentine can close the gap on the golden boot title.
- Brazil Serie A Goalscorer Prediction 2: Pablo Vegetti
- Best Odds: 4.50
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 6/10
Brazil Serie A Outright Prediction 3: Palmeiras’ wonderkid
From a 38 and 35-year-old to a teenage sensation. Palmeiras’ 17-year-old wonderkid Estevão has been “out-of-this-world good” in his first season in senior football.
For a 17-year-old winger to have eight league goals and seven assists from 21 matches – where he’s rarely completed 90 minutes – is absolutely insane. Only Pedro has one more goal contribution than him.
Far from a one trick pony, Estevao can score penalties, free-kicks, long range strikes and tap ins. He has everything – and he’s showing it week in, week out.
What is mindblowing about the 17-year-old is the amount of power he can generate when striking the ball. Some of his long range goals this season have been outrageous. But so have his goals inside the box.
Able to weave through experienced defences and leave them tied in knots, Estevao thrives on that right hand side, cutting inside and out before unleashing his almost trademark hammering finish.
Palmeiras are out of every other competition, which bodes well for this bet. Abel Ferreira will want to maintain his title, and like Endrick last season, needs Estevao in order to achieve that.
There simply hasn’t been a talent as good since Neymar burst onto the scene back in 2009 – and so it would be foolish not to back him to win the golden boot now Pedro is out for the season.
