Atalanta vs Liverpool Prediction: Team News and Lineups Preview
Tom Winch is here with an Atalanta vs Liverpool, team news, lineups and fixtures preview, as the Reds head to Italy in the Quarter-Finals of the Europa League.
It was a shocking display from Jurgen Klopp’s men at Anfield, followed up by a pretty dismal Premier League showing on the weekend. They aren’t out of the tie just yet. Atalanta will be confident that they can navigate themselves through. Only three sides have won at this venue in 2023/24.
- Atalanta vs Liverpool Tip 1: Over 3.25 Goals
- Atalanta vs Liverpool Tip 2: Over 1.5 Atalanta Cards & Over 4.5 Liverpool Corners
- Atalanta vs Liverpool Tip 3: Atalanta +1 Asian Handicap
Atalanta vs Liverpool Prediction 1: Goals At Gewiss
Europa League, Thursday, April 18th, 20:00 (UK)
Where do we start? The opening clash at Anfield was extraordinary. Atalanta didn’t have much of the ball, passed significantly less, and had eight fewer shots. Gasperini’s men well and truly deserved the win that night. The Italians have a three-goal cushion on Thursday. They’ll be confident, but you can never rule Jurgen Klopp’s side out.
It’s difficult to assess the encounter with the scoreline of the tie. I expect the hosts to take their time on every possible occasion.
Atalanta have failed to score just once here this season. That came against Juventus in early October. You’d have to fancy them to find the back of the net here, with the visitors having to push men forward.
The goal line is 3.25, and that’s fair enough due to the context of the tie. I’m happy to get onside with that selection. Liverpool can score multiple times here, but they have every chance of conceding just as many.
There’s plenty of attacking talent across the two teams. I’m expecting an entertaining affair in Bergamo.
- Atalanta vs Liverpool Prediction 1: Over 3.25 Goals (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.87
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 3/10
Atalanta vs Liverpool Prediction 2: Cards and Corners
I’m combining two selections for my second bet. Liverpool must attack, and with real purpose if they are to have any chance of mounting a comeback. The Reds have been racking up plenty of corners as of late. Klopp’s men have taken 240 in 32 Premier League games this season. That’s an average of 7.5 per match.
Liverpool will have spells where they’re camped in Atalanta’s half. They have several attacking players who can cause serious problems. Trent Alexander-Arnold is back in the side after his injury. His passing quality will be vital in this clash. I expect Atalanta’s defence to have a busy night.
Atalanta picked up two cautions at Anfield. We need them to do so again here. Gasperini’s men have picked up 64 yellow cards across 30 matches in Serie A this term. This game is massive for them. The hosts average the 4th most fouls in Italy’s top flight.
With this angle supporting both sides in different aspects, I think it has a real chance. Time-wasting is a possibility. There’s always a chance of a card. Five corners aren’t a lot to ask for from Liverpool. They’re not dead and buried just yet.
- Atalanta vs Liverpool Prediction 2: Over 1.5 Atalanta Cards & Over 4.5 Liverpool Corners (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 2.05
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 3/10
Atalanta vs Liverpool Prediction 3: Going With The Trend
Atalanta is a chunky price to win this clash. It’s clear that they don’t need to win and can even lose by two goals. They’ll be competitive, and there’s no doubting that. I’m taking Atalanta on the Asian Handicap, a selection that hasn’t lost once at this venue in the 23/24 season.
Gasperini’s side have lost three games this term, those coming against Bologna, Napoli and Inter. All three encounters ended 2-1. The Italians have conceded just ten goals here in the league across 14 matches. They’ve bagged 31, a very respectable amount.
Liverpool haven’t been themselves for a while. They can’t keep clean sheets. The Reds managed just two clean sheets in their previous 12 Premier League matches. It’s now nine consecutive games without a shutout in all competitions. In 2024, they conceded in 18 of 23 matches.
The hosts will take plenty of confidence from their impressive win at Anfield. They will get chances. They recorded a whopping 3.20xG in the opening leg with seven big chances. If they score here, like they usually do, Liverpool will need three for this bet to lose.
- Atalanta vs Liverpool Prediction 3: Atalanta +1 Asian Handicap (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.73
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 3/10

Atalanta vs Liverpool Team News and Possible Lineups: Liverpool With A Full Squad In Their Trip To Bergamo
Atalanta has two players who are suffering from injuries. Sead Kolasinac has a muscle injury. He’s not likely to return until the end of April.
Highly rated Giorgio Scalvini will also miss this encounter. The 20-year-old has a hamstring injury. He’ll return to action in May.
Liverpool has most of their squad available. Jota, Trent and Alisson featured in Liverpool’s defeat at Anfield over the weekend. It’s a bonus in what’s going to be a tough fixture.
Atalanta possible starting lineup:
Musso; Djimsiti, Hien, de Roon, Zappacosta, Ederson, Pasalic, Ruggeri, Koopmeiners, De Ketelaere; Scamacca
Liverpool possible starting lineup:
