Prediction: Atalanta 2-0 Fiorentina
An unusual late finish for Italy’s top flight as this match was originally scheduled for March 17, but was postponed due to Fiorentina’s general director, Joe Barone, sadly passing away.

Atalanta vs Fiorentina Prediction 1: Gasperini men eyeing third place
Italy, Serie A, Sunday, June 2nd, 17:00 (UK)
There’s nothing at stake on Sunday, as both teams are already qualified to play in Europe next season.
In fact, Atalanta, thanks to their success in the Europa League, have already confirmed their place in the Champions League. Yet this did not stop Gian Piero Gasperini’s men from rolling over Torino last Sunday and establishing their place in Serie A’s top four.
Three points against Fiorentina will see the Orobici leapfrogging Juventus and ending a successful season with a third-place finish.
Since the end of March, Atalanta have been Italy’s most in-form side as they collected 22 out of 27 points, four more than the champions Inter. During this period, the hosts have lost only once in Serie A (2-1 against Cagliari) and conceded just seven goals.
All of Atalanta’s last nine games have recorded no more than three goals as the Bergmaschi have kept four clean sheets in the last six matches.
With Fiorentina tired and disappointed after the Conference League final and without motivation to win, it’s unlikely this game will be a goal fest.

Atalanta vs Fiorentina Prediction 2: A ‘soft-spot’ for Teun
It was another heartbreak on Wednesday for La Viola that, despite having the best scoring chances, lost their third final in the last two years.
With manager Vincenzo Italiano set to depart in the summer a lot will change for Fiorentina, a team that, despite an improved form in the last couple of months, can’t finish higher than eight in Serie A.
Fiorentina have only won two of their last seven away games in all competitions and were defeated 4-1 by Atalanta in the Coppa Italia semi-final at the end of April.
The hosts have won by a margin of more than one goal in four of their last five games played at the Gewiss Stadium and only failed to score twice (against Liverpool and Juventus) in front of their fans.
Therefore backing one of ‘La Dea’ attacking players to have an attempt on target seems like a logical option.
Teun Koopmeiners, Atalanta’s third-best scorer this season with 16 goals, could be the smart pick.
The Dutch midfielder scored against Fiorentina in the 4-1 success in Coppa Italia, but has not found the back of the net in the last five games.
He’s Atalanta’s penalty taker and could net from the spot, considering Fiorentina have already conceded nine penalties this season in Serie A.

Atalanta vs Fiorentina Prediction 3: don’t expect a classic
Plenty of players on both sides will take part in this summer’s Euros and Copa America.
Therefore, it is likely Gasperini and Italiano will give space, as the game goes on, to those who have featured less during the season.
Let’s face it, a match played on a sunny June afternoon with nothing at stake, it’s hardly going to be a classic.
However, it’s unlikely this will end 0-0 either as Fiorentina, in some shapes or forms, often concede scoring opportunities.
In fact, since January 6, the visitors have only kept two clean sheets in their 19 Serie A matches, both times away against Torino (0-0) and Salernitana (2-0 win for La Viola).
The visitors have got Italy’s fifth-best away defence, with 22 goals, but have always conceded on the road against teams in the top seven positions in the table.
Italiano’s men have lost without scoring against Inter, AC Milan, Bologna, Juventus and Lazio and managed a 1-1 draw in Roma against the Giallorossi.
There have been less than 27 shots in five of the last nine Atalanta games, and Under 26.5 shots has been a winning bet in five of Fiorentina’s last six games.
- Atalanta vs Fiorentina Prediction 3: Match Shots: Under 26.5 Shots (TRACKED BET)
- Best Odds: 1.90
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 10/10
