Welcome to our Aston Villa vs Chelsea prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview as the Premier League edges closer to the season’s business end.

The visitors will be hoping to put the 5-0 thumping at the Emirates in midweek behind them as they head to Villa Park. The hosts will be in no mood to show mercury though, hot in pursuit of a Champions League spot.

James Cantrill is on hand to pick three best bets out featuring goals and goalscorers.

Aston Villa vs Chelsea Prediction 1: Goals galore

England, Premier League, Saturday, April 27th, 20:00 (UK)

Aston Villa came from a goal behind to beat Bournemouth moving them six points ahead of Tottenham in the face for fourth, albeit having played two games more.

It capped off a fine eight days for the Villans in which they won at the Emirates and secured their spot in the Europa League Conference semi-final via penalties against Lille.

Unai Emery has had to make do without midfield lynchpin Douglas Luiz who was suspended. The Brazilian is set to return to the XI on Saturday though having served his two game suspension.

With the Brazilian back in the side, it only strengthens the hosts’ case at Villa Park, where they have only lost three times all campaign.

The goals should flow in this match-up though as Villa’s highline is combined with the pure chaos of Chelsea.

The Blues have only failed to net in one of their 12 games against sides above them this term, which was the reverse of this fixture.

Backing a home win with both teams to score is the play.

Aston Villa vs Chelsea Prediction 2: Ollie’s after the Golden Boot

Goals are painfully short at Villa Park, but with good reason.

Over 2.5 goals is generally trading at around 1.50, with the hosts at odds on to net at least twice.

Considering this, it would be rude not to get the league’s creators-in-chief on our side to find the net.

Ollie Watkins is 2.30 to score anytime, a feat he has managed 14 times this season.

The England international is one off the Golden Boot pace but also tops the charts for assists (12), averaging a goal every 152 minutes played, and has netted three in his last three appearances.

He will fancy his chances of netting against the Blues, a side that has only kept two clean sheets on the road all season, both of which came back in September and early October.

  • Aston Villa vs Chelsea Prediction 2: Ollie Watkins Anytime Golascorer (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.40
  • Bookmaker: William Hill
  • Stake: 5/10

Aston Villa vs Chelsea Prediction 3: Pair of braces

Only Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer (20) have scored more goals than Watkins this campaign. The latter doubled his domestic total for the season in his last five appearances.

He hit four against Everton in his last appearance, three against Manchester United, two against Burnley and one against Newcastle. I wonder if any firms will price him up to score five on Saturday?

Palmer’s red-hot form has seen clamour grow for his inclusion in the Euro’s squad and also seen his price crash for the Player of the Year award.

He missed out on the trip to the Emirates on Tuesday, with illness but I am hoping he will be back fit and firing for this trip to the Midlands.

Although it is not something I usually do, combining Palmer to net a brace with a Watkins brace is the final punt for this clash.

With goals clearly expected, why not combine two of the sharpest shooters in the division in a daft bet?

The pair have scored two or more goals eight times between them domestically so who says no?

  • Aston Villa vs Chelsea Prediction 3: Ollie Watkins & Cole Palmer Brace (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 116.11
  • Bookmaker: Betfiar, Paddy Power
  • Stake: 1/10

Aston Villa vs Chelsea Team News and Possible Lineups: Douglas Luiz returns

Doulgas Luiz returns for the hosts, probably at the expense of Moussa Diaby. Youri Tielemans, who started in a deeper role against Bournemouth could move to the no.10 with Luiz slotting in alongside John McGinn.

Neither Palmer, Ben Chilwell nor Malo Gusto were present at the EMirates for the 5-0 drubbing.

No doubt Chelsea will be doing all they can to get the former fit for Sunday but should the other pair not be fit at full back, Marc Cucurella and Alfie Gilchrist should continue.

Aston Villa possible starting lineup:
Emi Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; McGinn, Douglas Luiz; Bailey, Tielemans, Rodgers; Watkins

Chelsea possible starting lineup:
Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Badiashile, Cucurella; Fernandez, Caicedo; Madueke, Gallagher, Palmer; Jackson
