America MG vs Palmeiras: Raphael Veiga set to entertain for reigning champions

America MG vs Palmeiras: Raphael Veiga set to entertain for reigning champions

America MG vs Palmeiras Bet Builder Tips, Opta Stats, Player Props

It’s America MG vs Palmeiras, with the current Brasileiro champions sitting in fourth spot and desperately needing to put together a winning run to keep hold of their title. An away trip to America MG presents a trickier match than expected, with the club’s recent form improving. With both sides fighting at each end of the table, I’m anticipating plenty of action on Sunday evening (20:00 UK) in Brazil’s Serie A.

Bet Builder odds: 2.40

Brazil, Serie A, Sunday 30th July 20:00 (UK)

Odds via bet365 as at 13:00, 27th July 2023. Odds may now differ.

America MG vs Palmeiras Bet Builder Tips: An open looking game can fall Fereira’s way

We’ll be placing the below bet builder on bet365 as usual. With the abundance of markets and the inclusion of player shots markets which you’re not likely to find too many places in terms of South American football, bet365 is a no-brainer to use.

If you’re utilising a bet builder function anywhere else other than bet365, you may not be able to locate certain player props (Raphael Veiga shots) below. Let’s get to it.

Palmeiras double chance: Visitors to avoid defeat

Palmeiras find themselves 12 points behind the league leaders heading into round 17 in Serie A. After a winless run of five matches, Palmeiras got back on track with a 3-1 victory over Fortaleza last weekend.

If you dive deeper into their “winless” streak, away draws in Serie A to Atletico PR and Internacional, alongside a 1-1 draw at home to Flamengo, have been promising results.

Their two defeats to Sao Paulo in the Copa do Brasil were disappointing but not alarming, so there’s no need to press the panic button just yet.

Palmeiras have a promising record away versus America MG, and although they held Flamengo to a 1-1 draw last week, the Copa Libertadores champions were rusty after their week break. Taking nothing away from America MG’s performance, but it’s safe to say they caught Flamengo on an off day.

Even with Palmeiras back in the Libertadores next week, three points are a must, and Abel Fereira is likely to go full strength for this fixture. If that is the case, the current Serie A holders should not be losing this kind of match.

Over 9.5 corners

America MG have stepped up their performances in recent weeks, almost realising if they don’t score, they aren’t going to salvage their Serie A status. Their more open approach has created opportunities at both ends of the pitch – which has resulted in plenty of corners.

Against Flamengo, there were 19 within the 90 minutes, but despite the hosts pressing hard, America MG had seven of their own. Plenty came on the break, but their newfound confidence will see them hoping to threaten Palmeiras’ backline.

Palmeiras set up with a 4-5-1 attacking formation. With most of their play going out wide to their wingers, it’s no surprise to see them rack up their corner count away from home.

In recent weeks, Fereira’s side had seven against Internacional and eight against Bahia. The longer America MG holds on; the more likely Palmeiras pressure will open up America MG down the channels.

With Artur, Jhon Jhon and Rony all possessing plenty of pace, America MG will be forced to drop deep and defend out wide, which may well lead to plenty of corners.

Raphael Veiga over 0.5 shots on target: Not one to say no

Palmeiras’ leading man was at the heart of the action last weekend, and it was his goal which helped claim all three points. Sitting in the attacking midfield role, Veiga has the footballing brain to locate pockets of space around the box.

He’s not one to say not a shooting opportunity from range, either. He likes to transition the ball in behind the fullbacks with his extensive range of passing before holding his run to receive the ball in dangerous areas.

On top of that, the Brazilian takes all set pieces, including penalties, offering him several opportunities.

America MG have conceded 33 goals from just 15 matches, and there’s no doubt Palmeiras’ star player will find opportunities to test Mateus Pasinato.

Veiga has managed to hit the target in three of his last four Serie A matches, and against one of the weakest teams in the league, this looks like an excellent addition to the bet builder.
