Toledo Rockets vs Miami Redhawks Picks
That’s right, I think for the first time this year we need a little same-game combo to end the week, so while my main bet will be the Redhawks to cover the double-digit handicap, the total will fly in along with it!
The line setters want to lead us to believe this will be a high-scoring affair with a big home win for Toledo, but I need to question the second part of that statement. The Redhawks are averaging just under 75 PPG, and they rank 20th in the nation shooting the 3-ball, and that’s why their totals are 8 – 3 to the Over in their lined games this season.
As I break down what these two programs have done to this point of the campaign, I see no difference in their strength of schedules, and I also see some ugly losses from each of them as well. The other thing they have in common is scoring threats, and the Rockets have four players averaging double-digits entering this home game at Savage Arena on Friday night.
Ra-Heim Moss and Donte Maddox Jr. are both putting up just over 15 PPG for the Rockets, and the pair lead the team in time on the court seeing over half an hour of playing time for head coach Tod Kowalczyk. In 13 seasons running the Rockets program, Kowalczyk has produced seven 20-win seasons, including the last three years, but he has yet to get his teams to the NCAA Tournament.
The biggest factor for me in taking the Redhawks to cover the line and keep up with the pace to hit the total is the return of Anderson Mirambeaux. Mirambeaux is just getting his legs under him with only four starts under his belt, and he already leading the team with 14.3 PPG. He has been doing it off the bench thus far too, which is even more impressive because he’s only averaging 17 minutes a night and still finding his way to 14 points a night.
Mirambeaux averaged exactly 14.2 PPG in 31 appearances last year, and he is only going to be getting more playing time and that average will rise as the games get more important.
Now that conference play has started, and the Redhawks already lost their first game to Western Michigan, they can ill-afford to take another L so I expect this to be a good fight with plenty of points hitting the scoreboard.
Play the Hawks to cover the +12, and if you dig on same-game parlays add the Over 157.5 to the card and boost your bankroll!

TOLEDO ROCKETS VS MIAMI REDHAWKS STATS AND FORM
The Rockets have defeated the Redhawks an obnoxious 20 straight times! The last time the Hawks beat Toledo was on February 12, 2011.
Neither team has any players on the injury report as they both enter conference play healthy with fill rosters.
I mentioned that the Redhawks rank 20th nationally with the 3-point shot, but that has not helped their overall shooting percentage a lick. Miami ranks 328th in the country in attempted field goals, so they do tend to slow the game down to get quality shots, including from outside the arc.
At the same token, the Toledo defense is among the worst in the nation in a handful of big statistical categories. Toledo ranks 354th out of 354 teams with opponents who made field goals (27.7 per game), and their defensive rebounding numbers rank them 346th in the land.
