Lou Lopez Senechal and Diamond DeShields are out for the road team. Han Xu and Stefanie Dolson are unavailable for the Liberty. Despite being two of the best teams in the league this term, bookies have tended to overestimate both the Liberty and Wings. They have each covered the spread in less than half of their games, with only the lowly Sparks and Mercury covering less often than the Eastern Conference-leading Liberty.
Dallas has quietly been among the league’s elite over the last few weeks. After a patchy start to the campaign, they have ranked third in net rating across their last ten games, with a slightly better mark than New York. Only the Sun have a better defence than the Wings over that span. Even with the third-highest pace in the league, Dallas has conceded under 80 points in seven of their last nine.
New York’s defence is not exactly leaking points, either. They are third in defensive rating across the last ten games and fourth on the season. Since last playing Dallas on June 11th, only three teams have scored more than 86 points against the Liberty.
This looks set to be a relatively low-scoring game. Both offences have talent, and the Liberty have a huge advantage when it comes to three-point shooting. However, each team relies on easy points on the offensive glass, and they are both well-equipped to protect the defensive boards.
