NCAA Basketball Saturday Best Bets: We're Back in the Doghouse!
NCAA BASKETBALL NOVEMBER MADNESS BEST BETS: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 26th
We’ve been thrown into the dog house, but that’s okay for our resident NCAA Hoops expert Ej Garr who has made a living spending time there. It’s another day of underdogs from our in-house basketball pundit, so prepare the bones, get out the blankets, and cozy up with the points you’ll have in your pockets on Saturday. We’ll be in Quebec too, so don’t forget the scarves and gloves and I’ll bring the hot cocoa!

Old Dominion Monarchs vs East Carolina Pirates Preview
November 27, 00:00 (UK time)
The Pirates are underdogs again, and if you are paying attention to anything at all this year, it’s ECU not just covering but winning games night after night! Here we are again staring at +5 with the Pirates who are once again being told that they can’t win the basketball game tonight. They’re not good enough, and they should just stay back at the hotel and play ping-pong instead!
East Carolina has been the underdog in all but one game this season, and they were only favoured by a point when they took down Hampton back on November 16., 82 – 73. The Pirates are still on the road from their trip to take part in the Gulf Coast Showcase, and they finished that trip with a bang upsetting UT-Arlington, 79 – 65 as 5-point underdogs.
Javon Small came up big contributing 18 points to the win, as he and RJ Felton both stayed on the court for 32 minutes of the game. Felton found his way to a 16-point effort, and Wynston Tabbs came off the bench to add 16 more points to the mix, as ECU extended their lead to 21 points at one point of the game. Oh, as 5-point underdogs and would you look at that? We have a handful of points to put toward the Pirates again, and I just can’t talk myself out of trusting them to get it done again. If you have been playing the ECU Moneyline all season, you are cleaning up the bank floor, acting as the janitor but actually having the keys to the entire alarm system and vault!
Old Dominion is doing the close-game thing night after night themelves. Look at all of these games so far to open the 2022 campaign. A close game that hasn’t been decided by more than 5 points in their last 3 games when they took part in the Charleston Classic. Despite the 2 – 1 record, all 3 games came down to the wire and I don’t expect much of a different result here.
This over should be a consideration too, and I know a lot of folks love their stat support but there is not a ton to give here. When you look at the rankings, these two programs don’t even look like anything special, even though no one has held ECU to less than 75 points yet.

Another 5 points in our pockets, because ECU isn’t good enough to compete with ODU, right? Stop it!

Quinnipiac Bobcats vs Montana State Bobcats Preview
November 27, 00:00 (UK time)
When people talk about being in their wheelhouse, it’s because they are in an area they know and know well. How’s this for well? I have followed the MAAC since I was a kid going back into the 1970s and I attended Montana State to get my degree. I follow the Big Sky and the MAAC as closely as any of the conferences I handicap, so tonight, we have the Bobcats!
I know, thanks, ‘ll be here all week! Seriously, we will be riding the Quinnipiac Bobcats this time around, and it’s not a simple matter of team records. I assume you noticed that Quinnipiac is perfect out of the gate with a 6 – 0 record playing about as well as they have started a campaign before. While everyone has Iona and Siena on their radar for that lone bid for the tourney that will come out of the MAAC, the Bobcats have their stuff together and we’re getting 3 points?
Now, this game is in Quebec, so both teams had to travel to get here for the Northern classic. Both teams already have a game under their belts here at Place Bell In Laval, PQ, as the MSU bobcats got skunked by 11 points against UNC-Greensboro, 77 – 66 last night.
Quinnipiac improved to that perfect 6 – 0 record with a nice win over S.F. Austin, and they’ve picked up wins over Dartmouth and Rhode Island in the early non-conference schedule. If the line setters want to give me points with the team I expect to win outright, you know that about me too. Yes, please, and thanks!
Not many teams can go 10-deep into their bench, but Baker Dunleavy has the ability to do that. This is a big campaign for Dunleavy who needs to produce a winning season after five relatively sub-par years in charge of the program. It helps that he’s got more upperclassmen on his roster than just about any team in the land.
Experience adds to chemistry, and I just see more with Quinnipiac right now than I do with my Alma Mater. I could go on and on about the entire roster for the MSU Bobcats, as I could for both teams.

It all comes down to momentum for me, and Quinnipiac has what Montana State wants. We also have points in our pockets with the dog who just improved to 6 – 0 last time out, so I will ride them out.
Side Note: I quite literally have a photo of myself with both teams’ mascots I could produce for you right now. I love that stuff, Ha!
- Selection: Quinnipiac +3
- Best odds: 1.91 (Marathon)
- Stakes 4/10
