Richmond Spiders vs Drake Bulldogs Preview
December 10, 19:00 (UK time)
The Richmond Spiders will play host to the Drake Bulldogs on Saturday, and apparently, the line setters still think the home team can play ball. Richmond has gotten off to a terrible start to the campaign, and it’s not like we can blame a harsh, demanding schedule for the poor start either.
I was filtering through the madness of games on the board for today, and goodness, we have a ton to choose from. I looked over about 12 of the high-profile games being played today, and as I slid down the page I saw this gem of a tip just sitting there to be had. Drake Moneyline -at 1.87?
Wait now, what? You know when you get that feeling like the line setters dropped the ball and they gave too much respect to a team who used to be good? Over the last few years, I would not normally fade the Spiders in this building, but Drake is about to walk in here 8 – 1, and they’ll leave Richmond with a 9 – 1 record when the final horn sounds.
The Spiders have lost 5 of their last 6 games, and the last time they took the court a loss to the College of William & Mary was the result. The Tribe was only 3 – 6 entering the game, and anyone who follows this sport knows that Richmond should have pounded CWM as 8-point favourites, right?
Nope, no such thing was happening, and the oddsmakers were so impressed with that loss that they put the Spiders at basically a pick ‘em line for this game. Home court advantage? Oh stop that noise, I could make more noise than what’s happening in that arena right now, and Drake is going to keep all of them in their seats and quiet all night.
Tucker DeVries is putting up 20 points a game for Drake this season, and he is one of 6 guards in the rotation for the Bulldogs. Drake doesn’t have a true center on the roster, and Head Coach Darian DeVries only really play two forwards throughout the night.
What has Darian DeVries accomplished in his previous four campaigns with Drake? Oh, you know, four 20-win seasons while following up the 25 – 11 last year with an 8 – 1 record already this year. Not too shabby, so if the line setters want to lead you to think this will be a close game, you go ahead and get lead the wrong way.
Richmond Spiders vs Drake Bulldogs Best Bet
Richmond falls to 3 – 6 and Drake improves to 9 – 1. It won’t be close! 74 – 58, and that is all she wrote! I am going to expect this line to move, so you’ll just play Drake -2 and be at ease.
- Selection: Drake -2
- Best odds: 1.93 (Pinnacle)

Washington State Cougars vs UNLV Rebels Preview
December 10, 21:30 (UK time)
I think we are dealing with a similar situation here, so I had to get you all on UNLV in this spot. As I opened the odds for this game, the Moneyline offer on the early line is 1.83 with the Rebels, and I am not one to bother with juice too often as you know.
UNLV is listed at only 1.87 on the Moneyline offer to win this game, so if the line setters don’t want to ask me to deal with a handicap, then we won’t! This was another game that I didn’t exactly plan on previewing until I saw the 1.87 on the team that will win this game.
I don’t care about the Rebels being on the road, because they’ve already won 4 games away from home this campaign to reach the 9 – 0 mark. With one true away win and 3 neutral site victories already under their belts, hitting the road to play a 4 – 4 Cougars squad doesn’t sound intimidating to me in the least.
We can peruse the UNLV schedule to this point and point out the Minnesota win as a highlight, but I won’t argue with anyone who thinks that the Rebels still need to be tested. Washington State has a bad loss to Prairie View that happened early in the season, and the two tough tests the Cougars have faced both ended up in losses. Taking Oregon to overtime might give Head Coach Kyle Smith a few positives to take from those losses, and he did get his program to the NIT semifinals a year ago.
If there is one thing I take issue with it’s the injury list for the Cougars. Jabe Mullins transferred over from St. Mary’s and he has missed the last two games along with 4 other players who will not be on the court for Washington State. Mullins was a big contributor to the Gaels’ success, and Smith was certainly hoping he caught a gem in the portal. He and Dishon Jackson, who is done for the season, were both expecting to have big years, but that’s all up in the air now.
The Rebels’ defence is only allowing 60.4 PPG, which is good enough to be ranked 31st in the Nation in scoring. Keshon Gilbert and Ej Harkless are both averaging over 14 PPG, and if Jackie Johnson III can put up another double-digit night, that will give the Rebels four players averaging 10 PPG. Johnson is doing his damage while only on the floor for about 15 minutes a night, and he’s found his way to double-digits in the last 4 games.

Washington State is not good enough to hand UNLV their first loss of the campaign. That is all you need to know when you get those bets in, so good luck out there, and have a 2 – 0 day on me!
