San Jose State Spartans vs Boise State Broncos Preview

It’s a Mountain West Conference kind of day up in here!
The Spartans will welcome the Broncos to the Event Center on Saturday night, and this is a massive game for Boise State.
What’s on the line: The top seed for the Mountain West Conference Tournament!
San Diego State and Boise State are only separated by a game in the MWC table with only 3 games left to play in the regular season. Oops! Boise State gets a rematch with the Aztecs at home in their next game on the last day of February while they’ll finish up on my birthday, March 4, on the road at Utah State. ( Had to sneak that in there, HA!)
Boise State is coming off of a big win against New Mexico last time on the floor, and it now gives them a 4-game win streak while also finding victories in 7 of their last 8 outings. Let this soak in for a second… The Broncos have six players who average double digits this year. That is ridiculous in this generation where we barely even see 3 dudes on some squads pulling that off. The best part about previewing Broncos games is that we only need to mention about eight players who contribute to the effort every night.
I will tell you right now that Tyler Degenhart is dying to get back on the court after going 0 for 8 from distance against New Mexico. He still found his way to a 13 and 7 night, but it took 5 for 5 from the free throw line and a lot of help from the guys around him to win that game, 82 -77.
Max Rice picked up the slack with a 30-point effort for the Broncos, and he reached a personal best output for the campaign in the win. Marcus Shaver Jr. also has a performance to atone for after going 1 for 7 from the charity stripe against New Mexico and 0 for 2 from behind the arc. I guarantee that both of them come up with big efforts tonight to get Boise this win on the road.
The Spartans just got absolutely pounded against New Mexico,96 – 68, and they come into this game riding a 2-game losing streak after the loss to Nevada last time out, 66 – 51.
San Jose State Spartans vs Boise State Broncos Best Bet
Here’s the big stat: Boise State already took a 67 – 64 win over San Jose State back in January, and it increased their win streak over the Spartans to 11 games. Overall, Boise State is 18 – 1 in 19 meetings with the Spartans! CARRY ON!

Moneyline? What is BetFair doing leaving us a semblance of value here? I see the -1.5 is about 1.95 with the Aztecs on the road but then I saw that and figured okay, why not? For 8 bucks worth of juice, I can gladly just expect an away win and not sweat if it comes down to a damn point. I would be so pissed if they won by 1 and I didn’t just stick to my guns and pay the marginal juice on the ML.
As you know, I am not a fan of juice in the least I hate it! I am the only tipster on this site or any other site you follow that has never posted a tip with odds above 1.80. I simply refuse!
Anyway, to get a San Diego State team just to win is a gift, in my opinion. I just mentioned that Boise State and San Diego State will meet on Tuesday in Idaho, but the Aztecs would love to just walk in here and get closer to locking up the 1-seed headed towards the MWC Tournament.
I think the Aztecs take this game easily, as the Lobos has lost 6 of their last 7 games and are certainly not playing well right now. This is by far the worst stretch of results through the campaign for New Mexico and the voting committee for the post-season tournaments is undoubtedly watching them to see how they finish.
Having 20 wins doesn’t guarantee anything, and San Diego State is the team ranked 20th in the Coaches Poll and 22nd in the AP Poll coming into this affair. The Aztecs go 9-deep and get production from all over the floor. They may only have Matt Bradley as their leader with 13 PPG and the only player who averages double-digits, but this team knows the importance of the defensive glass.
Boise State tanks 19th in the country in defensive rebounding and 9th in the land guarding the 3-ball. Teams only shoot a combined 28.7 from behind the arc against the Broncos,
While the New Mexico offense on paper looks outstanding ranked 17th in the country averaging 81 PPG, THey have no depth and only put 7 players on the floor every night. Jamal Mashburn Jr. and Jalen House have to carry the load, although Morris Udeze is playing his best basketball. That dude grabs boards like you grab socks in the morning, as he has put up a double-double in the last 3 games and 12 overall for the campaign.
This game is going to come down to who can defend late in the game and make a stand to change the pace. I give that nod to the Aztecs even on the road, because they have their eye on the prize.
New Mexico Lobos vs San Diego State Aztecs Best Bet
The Aztecs know a win here will put them further in the driver’s seat and in position to clinch the MWC top spot. I see them pulling it off and coming away with a win no matter if it is close or not, and it might be a great game, by the way. I will be watching this one for sure!
