CHICAGO BULLS VS BROOKLYN NETS: Nets Make it Three in a Row
Sat, Nov 04. 00:10 (UK time)
Yes, we are dealing in very small samples, so perhaps the Nets being 12th with a +2.5 net rating doesn’t tell us too much. Brooklyn, though, has been competitive through the first week or so of this season, while the Bulls look set for a teardown at some point this term.
Both teams are slightly above league average when it comes to their adjusted shot quality. Chicago is only 2-3 on the season, however, and has covered the spread just once. Brooklyn has covered in all four games to date, and they have excellent defensive options to throw at Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan.
We could easily be tempted by the Nets moneyline at 2.60. For the purposes of this parlay, we’re sticking with the spread.
OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER VS GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS: Quiet Night at Paycom
Sat, Nov 04. 00:10 (UK time)
Four of the Thunder’s five games have gone under this line. Three of the Warriors’ five games have gone under. As expected, Golden State’s pace has been slowed by the arrival of Chris Paul (they’re down to 22nd), and their defence has been elite once again, ranking in the top five.
These teams are both in the top 11 in shot quality allowed this season. Oklahoma City’s defence has been excellent, with Chet Holmgren’s rim protection proving to be a superb complement to their perimeter defence. Their offence has at times been clunky, which is reflected in a bottom-five rank in shot quality generated.
Between them, these teams have hit the under in 70% of their games in 2023-24.
PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS VS MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES: Grizzlies in a Runt
Sat, Nov 04. 02:10 (UK time)
The Memphis Grizzlies are the NBA’s only 0-5 team. They are 30th in net rating. Without Ja Morant, their offence has unsurprisingly struggled, sitting 21st in shot quality and 30th in rating. The defence has been leaking points, too.
While Portland is firmly in a rebuild after dealing Damian Lillard, they have improved to 2-3 on the season after consecutive wins. There is no doubting the talent on this roster despite Scoot Henderson’s early struggles – Shaedon Sharpe delivered another reminder of his immense upside with 29 points against the Pistons a couple of days ago.
The spread is just 2.5 points, so it’s worth taking the Blazers on the moneyline against a Grizzlies team in disarray.
