Missing Shephard and Mitchell weakens the Lynx, of course, but their on/off numbers show Minnesota can remain competitive without them.
The Lynx have been no more than a middle-of-the-pack defence on the season, which has remained the case over the last five games. Dallas has surprisingly posted the best defensive rating in the Association across that span – the Wings have relied on their defence to compensate for some offensive struggles, with their offensive rating sitting in the bottom four over the last five.
Facing such a strong defence, we think there’s value backing the Lynx to go under their team total. They have put up some big offensive numbers of late, but they still average below 80 points per game this season, and will not generate many extra possessions against a Dallas team which excels on the boards.
