Memphis Grizzlies vs New Orleans Pelicans Best Bet: Friday, November 25th

With 3 wins in a row, we’re looking to close out this week on the right foot with a nice value bet at 2.25 odds. The Memphis Grizzlies take on the New Orleans Pelicans tonight at FedEx Forum in their second encounter of the season. Not a lot separating these two teams on pape, with the Pelicans having just 1 more win on their record, but the Grizzlies have been in very poor form recently and not even home territory can get them out of this one.

Memphis Grizzlies vs New Orleans Pelicans Preview

Sat, Nov 26th 01:00. (UK Time)

The Memphis Grizzlies are one of the most exciting young teams in the NBA and came into the season with very high expectations after making the conference semi-finals last season. They had the perfect start to the season, winning 5 games in a row, but their recent form has left a lot to be desired. The Grizzlies are currently 7th in the conference standings with a 10-8 record and are on a 2-game losing streak. Their most recent loss came at the hands of the Sacramento Kings by 109-113 at home despite a 34-point performance by Ja Morant.

The Grizzlies have been in very poor form in the second half of November, losing and failing to cover the spread in 4 of their last 5 games. One of those was a 113-102 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans at Smoothie King Center less than 2 weeks ago when the Grizzlies’ offence failed to get going and shot just 25.7% from beyond the arc. The Grizzlies have been one of the worst offensive teams in the last 2 weeks, ranking 27th in offensive rating and averaging just 107.8 points per game. Their defence hasn’t been the best this year, allowing 113.9 points per game and allowing opponents to shoot 36.5% from beyond the arc. The absence of Desmond Bane with a toe injury in their lineup has certainly been a tough blow to this squad, but he should return at the end of November.

However, the New Orleans Pelicans have also had a smooth season so far, sitting 3rd in the Western Conference with 11 wins and 7 losses. They are on a 2-game winning streak, having won 4 of their last 5 and are coming off a 110-129 demolition job in San Antonio. The Pelicans had a meagre 33.3% win percentage last season but this number has almost doubled this year to 61.1%, and even though they’ve only played 18 games so far, it’s certainly a good sign. Their only notable injury for tonight is C.J. McCollum with COVID-19, but even without him in the lineup, this is a dangerous team with more than enough firepower.

The Pelicans have been really good on both sides of the floor this season, averaging 117.6 points per game with 27.5 assists and a 38.5% three-point percentage. They have also had the top-rated defence in the last 5 games with a rating of 103.2, whilst keeping opponents to just 104.4 points per game. The Pelicans are a solid rebounding team too and there are very few ways in which teams can beat them.

Memphis Grizzlies vs New Orleans Pelicans Best Bet

Not a lo separating these two teams, but the Grizzlies are available at 1.79 odds to win, whilst the Pelicans are at 2.25. The spread is just 2 points, but I see some solid value in backing the visitors in this one.

The Grizzlies haven’t been in the best of shape these last few games, with their offence struggling to get going in the absence of Desmond Bane. Even with Morant at the top of his game this team simply can’t generate points, and with their 3-point shooting at just 30.8% over their last 5, it’s hard to imagine them winning this one.

The Pelicans have been exceptional at both sides of the floor, and their defence should be able to keep the Grizzlies to around 102-3 points once again. Even with McCollum out for tonight, Williamson and Ingram still have a lot of firepower between them, and their bench is more than capable of contributing, coming off a 54-point outing on Wednesday. They have a very good chance of taking home the dub, and I’m happy to give up the 2 points and back them in the moneyline.

  • Selection: Pelicans to Win
  • Best Odds: 2.25 (Marathonbet)
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds as of 2:00 pm November 25th, 2022. Odds may now differ.
