Dallas Mavericks vs Golden State Warriors Best Bet: Back the Dubs for Another Win

Dallas Mavericks vs Golden State Warriors Best Bet: Tuesday, November 29th
The 11-10 Golden State Warriors are favoured by 1.5 points against the 9-10 Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night. Dallas has lost five of six. Golden State has won five of six. The Dubs were dominant when these teams met in the Conference Finals earlier this year, and this is the first duel between the two Western Conference powerhouses since then.
After losing their first eight on the road, the Warriors have won two of three after lighting up the Timberwolves on Sunday. Their loss in that span can be taken with a pinch of salt, given that Steve Kerr had a starting line up of Jordan Poole, Donte DiVincenzo, Anthony Lamb, Jonathan Kuminga and Kevon Looney.
Both teams have a clean bill of health, aside from Andre Iguodala’s continued absence as he morphs into the Udonis Haslem role.

These teams trending in opposite directions runs further back than the aforementioned six games. Golden State is 7-3 over the last 10. For Dallas, that record is flipped. The defence was uncharacteristically poor for the Warriors to start the season, but they are up to eighth in defensive rating over that period.
The reigning champions are fifth in net rating. Dallas has dropped to 19th over the last 10.
Offence is the main issue for the Mavs. Luka Doncic is carrying an immense workload, with a usage rate in the high thirties. Maxi Kleber, Tim Hardaway Jr and Reggie Bullock are struggling to make outside shots, which is a problem when they offer little else on offence, and Dallas leads the league in three-point rate. They are shooting just 34.5% on perimeter attempts as a team.
A lack of rim protection was a problem for the Mavericks in the playoffs. Signing JaVale McGee to remedy that weakness has not worked – Dallas is 13.4 points per 100 possessions better when McGee is on the bench, and he will likely be played off the floor by his former team.

As was the case a couple of seasons ago, the Warriors have been a different team without James Wiseman. Golden State were considerably worse at both ends with Wiseman on the floor. He is now in the G-League. Kuminga, too, was not helping the Dubs win games, and his role has decreased of late, with minute totals of 9, 6, 14, 13 and 20 in their last five wins.
On the offensive end, Klay Thompson has found his groove after a slow start, making 5.6 threes per game over his last five. Andrew Wiggins has also hit north of 50% from downtown across that period, and scored 22 per contest.
The Warriors are looking like the Warriors again. When their core is healthy and Wiseman is out of the picture, Golden State is still an irrepressible force. Dallas, meanwhile, is proving to be the flawed team they looked like before the season.
