Both teams are below .500, in 12th and 13th place, so they are not even in the play-in spots as things currently stand. The only worse teams in the Western Conference are “tanking” teams, Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs. The Lakers have played without Anthony Davis for over a month, so the struggles are expected.
However, Blazers lost 11 out of the last 15 games while being healthy and having Lillard performing at the MVP level (32.4 ppg with 7.5 assists on average over the last 10 games). It would make sense if they had a difficult schedule, but they lost to Orlando Magic, Indiana Pacers, Wolves without Towns, and twice to the Thunders.
