Washington Nationals vs Chicago Cubs Run Total Best Bet: It’s the Corbin Effect Again
Washington Nationals vs Chicago Cubs Run Total Best Bet: Tuesday, August 16th
Our resident MLB expert Ej Garr handed our readers a joyously easy total to cash on Monday and today we get to take advantage of the Corbin Effect… Again!
Oh, we’ve been here before my friends, because fading Patrick Corbin is something we have grown accustomed to doing as long as the Nationals keep throwing him on the mound. So, with a fade of a pitcher who shouldn’t even be pitching in the Majors, we get to take advantage of the Cubs team total in Washington on Tuesday night.

I know the Corbin Effect is a thing because I invented it right here at bettingexpert. This will be one of many times we have taken advantage of Patrick Corbin not being able to hold his own on a big league mound. Did you see that Pinnacle is showing the straight 8 on this total at 1.83?
I know, you just fell off your chair and spit up your morning tea, I heard it all the way here in New York! I mean what the hell are the line setters doing not even asking us to pay for 9 runs? I see the 8.5 on this total is 1.97 as I put this article in late on Monday night. I will have no issue playing the early line if I am being shown a straight 8 with a marginal vig of 1.83 any day and maybe twice on Tuesday! However, I do think the best bet we’re going to make in this spot is with the Cubs team total at 4.5.
I could produce about 1,000 words of why Patty Corbin deserves to be faded so let’s start with some stats. How about the last time we saw this goon take the bump? I could have done better and I stopped playing sports 15 years ago. When you can only get 2 outs in a start and you give up 3 home runs and 6 earned runs without even getting out of the first inning? Houston? We have a problem, and I honestly can’t even believe that the Nationals aren’t just sending Corbin down to the minors because it’s not he is trade bait for anyone looking for a quality arm for the playoff chase. The phone never rang with the team’s GMs asking about the availability of Patrick Corbin, let’s just put it that way. With that effort, Corbin’s ERA on the campaign is 7.02. Hi, excuse me, I’ll brb I need to clean the puke off my keyboard and regroup!
Luckily, the Cubs are hitting the baseball right now and they are getting 4-5 runs a night like clockwork. The Nationals bats? Well, not so much good stuff to say here since the loss of Juan Soto to San Diego among all the mess this team is right now.
The Cubs team total is 4.5 and despite the 1.83 for that, how can you lay off that? That’s like seeing an 85 MPH fastball over the heart of the plate and just window shopping? Why would you do that? Hit the laces off of that thing, man!
I haven’t even brought up Justin Steele yet as he is the expected starter for the Cubs this evening in Washington. He is about the biggest concern we could have about playing that total because he can certainly pitch the Nats’ bats have plenty to improve on.
Washington Nationals vs Chicago Cubs Best Bet
I am seeing 1.85 and 1.83 for the most part when it comes to this Cubbies team total and I don’t mind that juice a bit in this spot. We’re fading Patty Corbin again and he will not disappoint surrendering plenty of runs for us to cash this ticket and start the week 2 – 0!
