We’re picking up the pieces from a tough loss on Monday and resetting our sights on the total in Washington on Tuesday night. Ej is not in a good mood after falling short to start the week, so he is turning his attention to the total in the Nation’s Capital on Tuesday night. The Nationals and Orioles play the first of a 3-game set tonight, and we have a low total set to take advantage of to bring us back to level terms for the week.

First of all, I apologize for the Cy Young abilities of the two starters I faded yesterday because all of a sudden Glenn Otto and Trevor Rogers turned into the best pitchers on earth on Monday. You know, oddly enough, the last time I faded two bums on the bump it was last Friday as Syndergaard and Corbin both pitched like Greek Gods to kill that tip for me.
What is happening? I need to get a Tarot Card reading and see if I did something to mess with my ability to fade pitchers that stink and have them quite literally stink when we fade them! All right, seriously now, I am going to Washington to chase another total to go over the number because the number I see is 8 at 1.83. The Over 8 is only priced at a reasonable 1.83 line, and I am okay with drinking some juice here and there to have that line tonight for this game.
Second of all, of course, there has been one Under that hit from the last 5 Nationals games as they wrapped up their lengthy road trip, and I had to pick the one, right? That Corbin start is the only tilt that kept the total under, and I am not about to think that Washington is just done hitting yet.
A day off is going to help both teams relax a bit, but at 73 – 67 and with only 22 games left to play in the regular season I think Baltimore is out of the wild card hunt. Officially, oh, they’re alive but my gut is telling me that they are just not going to finish with a bang and chase down one of the three positions in the standings that earns them a post-season bid.
The Nats lost 5 of their last 6 games of the road trip, and the line setters are not expecting a big home win to start the series with the Birds. Baltimore is listed as favourites at about 1.65 to win this first game of the set, and I am glad I bet on totals because that line stinks!
Dean Kremer (6 – 5; 3.23 ERA) is expected to be going up against Cory Abbott (0 – 2; 4.22 ERA), and I simply do not trust Abbott to go much further than 4 innings. This guy is a reliever who has made spot starts and he will always make a mistake that sees an outfielder looking into the stands watching a ball that isn’t coming back into play if you get my drift.
Abbott has pitched a total of about 49 innings in his career and the 15 home runs he’s allowed are going to come in handy for us tonight.
Kremer is also going to give up a couple of runs as usual, and that could just easily go from 2 earned runs to 4 with one big swing of the bat in this park that can bring overs on a nice warm day. It is supposed to be gorgeous here on the east coast for the next week, so let’s hope it helps support a ball flying a bit when the time comes for a launch party! We’re not going to the moon on Tuesday night, but we’re getting 8 runs, at least in Washington tonight.

Well, I need to produce a winner tonight and even though the juice is there I am drinking it to play the straight 8 on the Over. I knew when I saw the Over 8.5 at 2.05 that something would be fair enough to slide our mouse down to 8 instead. We’ll play it and hope they don’t get stuck playing with snowmen in September!
