Toronto Blue Jays vs Baltimore Orioles Run Total Best Bet: Monday, August 15th

Monday, Monday! It’s time to start this week the way we left off the last as our resident MLB expert Ej Garr handed you a pair of winners in his last article which we hope came in handy. So, it’s time to fill the birdfeeder because we are playing the early total with the Orioles and Blue Jays game on Monday to kick off the new week.

That’s right, you banged two winners if you took advantage of my Thursday article so let’s back right back to those winning ways to start the new week off right. I am turning to the early total in Toronto for a handful of reasons, and I will point out a few for you.

First of all, let’s start with the two mugs taking the bump because our expected starters tend to get lit up lately.

Kyle Bradish, baby! Oh yeah, here we go with that 1 – 4 record and the 6.42 ERA allowing more runs to score than you can shake a bat at! Will Bradish give up a home run tonight? Why yes, yes he will, and it will happen in the first inning too. In case you’ve been under a rock lately, there is this dude, okay? He wears #27 like his daddy did while distributing some damage with a bat in his hands for the other Canadian outfit, Like father, like son!

Vladi Guerrero had his 22-game hit streak snapped on Sunday, and if you google Vladi hit streak you ironically see that right about this time back in 1999, Vladi Senior was in the midst of a 31-game hitting streak in late August of that year. It’s fun for me being in my 50s to be able to remember his days in Montreal on that 1994 team that deserved so much better than a canceled campaign.

Anyway, that’s all history, but I assume Vladi Jr. will want to get back on track and bash a baseball on Monday after the 0 for 4 on Sunday. He could certainly end up being the man responsible for smashing that home run that Bradish allows that helps get us paid tonight.

The Jays appear to be sending Yusei Kikuchi (4 – 6; 5.13 ERA) to the hill, and the last time he took the mound he pitched against this Oriole’s squad. How’d that go? Sing it with me, “And a 1, and a 2, and a 3… Take, me out to the outfield, hit me over the wall!” Thank you for joining me, and I have the whole song available on my Spotify channel for a pound.

Right, I mean, when you give up three home runs against a team and your next start is against that same team, the approach has to be different for everyone. Kikuchi’s approach has to change but what do you think he can do with the stuff he has and 4 days to work on it? Stop it. I just hope he gives it up early enough to help us reach the 5 runs we need before we hit the 6th inning.

I wanted to suggest the full-time total but you know how sketchy the Jays games can also be when it comes to pouring it late runs. I would rather expect at least a 3 – 2 game going to the 6th inning than hope for 10 runs to hit the outright total. Sure, I anticipate they’ll get there but these two pitchers give me zero faith to expect any type of low-scoring affair early in the game.

Again, is a 3 – 2 game headed to the 6th inning going to push our action and let us live to bet another day? So be it. I hope for more and I expect both pitchers to do what they have been doing all summer long. Chicks love the long ball and so do we! That 1st inning total Over 0.5 is sure interesting if the price is right when you see it.
