ST. LOUIS CARDINALS VS CHICAGO CUBS BET BUILDER TIPS: CARDS & CUBS OPEN 4-GAME SET
CHICAGO CUBS MONEYLINE
The Chicago Cubs are currently playing great baseball and carry a modest 5-game win streak into this 4-game series with St. Louis Cardinals. Chicago will send Justin Steele to the mound as he makes his second consecutive start against the Cards. Steele pitched a solid 6⅓ innings and improved to 3 – 0 against the Cardinals this season, so can he stretch that number to 4?
You bet he can, and I am betting on the fact that he (Steele) has simply had the Cardinals’ number all year and I see no reason to get off of that train.
All the trends in the world aren’t going to shift my thinking here because there are a ton of stats that I am not posting regarding the totals. A good bit of overs have hit when Miles Nikoloas starts, and he is listed as the probable starting pitcher for St. Louis on Thursday night.
Mikolas got bailed out with a no-decision in his last start against the Cubs last week, although he did give up 5 earned runs through only 5 innings pitched in a game that ended in an 8 – 6 Cubbie win.
I trust Steele to get the job done, and the line is about an even money offer on the Cubs to win Game 1 of this series.
JUSTIN STEELE TO STRIKEOUT 5+ BATTERS
Steele has struck out at least 5 batters over his last 5 starts and I expect him to do no less than that again on Thursday. His success against the Cardinals this campaign will surely have him looking forward to yet another outing against rival St. Louis on their field.
Every starting pitcher in baseball wants to do nothing but watch people sit on their hands and boo the home team as he mows down opponents, and I believe that Justin will get his 6 Ks tonight.
GAME TOTAL UNDER 9.5 RUNS
Despite Mikolas’ tendencies to get jacked up, I still believe this will be a low-scoring game when the final out gets recorded. I am feeling a 6 – 3 Cubs win with Steele going 6+ innings while limiting the Cardinal lineup to close to nada!
