Well, the 9th inning rally for Baltimore at least salvages our push on the 8 last night, but I did hope they would have kept scoring to hit our Oriole Team Total bonus offer. Regardless, it’s a new day and it’s my last day of the week to leave you with a ticket to cash on Thursday afternoon here in the States.
I am turning to the Tribe, wait, no, I still find myself doing that if I am being honest, because we have called them that for so long, right? I know, okay, the Guardians it is so it might take me a few years to start just instinctively calling them that now.
Anyway, 3.5 runs? Alright, I think I found us the best bet of the day right there because I certainly expect Cleveland to bank 4 runs to open this weekend’s series on the road.
Marco Gonzales (8 – 12; 4.08 ERA) is the expected starter for the Ms today, and it will be weird to see a 1 PM local start in the Emerald City. We don’t see these start times too often, so it will be interesting to know how both teams adjust to the early first pitch time.
Gonzales’ last 5 starts have been quite interesting. He has given up 3 home runs in two of those starts having allowed 7 overall during this recent 5-game run of outings. The last time we saw Gonzales on the mound, he was getting hit pretty hard by the Texas Rangers allowing 5 earned runs and a dinger in the eventual loss, 7 – 4. Looking over his complete body of work this campaign, Gonzales has put up some quality starts but his time of year and an early start could throw off his routine a bit.
I know it doesn’t seem like much to have a day game start here and there, but Gonzales is on pace to have his highest ERA as a starter this season. Marco has not ended a campaign with an ERA above 4.00 since 2018.
The Guardians average 4.42 runs per game so the odds for me to see Cleveland with 4 runs before the 27th out are in our favour. I know this game total is a mere 7.5 as well, and Triston McKenzie (9 – 9; 3.11 ERA) is the listed probable for the Guardians. McKenzie has been a star in this rotation and I don’t want to fade him as much as I will take my chance fading Gonzales at home.

My final score prediction is 5 – 4 Guardians, so I don’t expect a high-scoring affair but it’s enough to hit my Cleveland Team Total and you might think about that Over for the game total. I won’t officially go there, but we’ll call it one strong lean and let you work out the logistics of making a play on it based on my score prediction.
