San Francisco Giants vs St. Louis Cardinals Best Bet: Value in a Giant Way
San Francisco Giants vs St. Louis Cardinals Best Bet: Thursday, April 27th
The San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals will play the last of their 4-game series at Oracle Park on Thursday afternoon with an early 13:45 local first pitch of the match. Our resident baseball pundit Ej Garr has his eyes on a pair of betting options for our readers today. In classic Ej fashion, his odds are at the extreme value point because the Mayor of Value City has to roll out the best offers on the net.

That’s right, I am up to finding the actual value in this affair, and I have a pair of offers to suggest for our best bets for this Thursday afternoon on the West Coast. It’s a businessman’s special at Oracle Park, which means it’s time for brunch at the park as a local 13:45 first pitch will wrap up this 4-game series between the Giants and Cards on Thursday.
Going into Wednesday night’s game, the Giants starting pitching staff has been lights out the last four games, which all started with the effort from the man starting this game today for the Giants. Logan Webb pitched seven strong innings against the Mets to pick up his first win of the 2023 campaign in his last start.
After seeing his team go 0 – 4 in his four previous starts, Webb finally got the run support he lacked from his first four outings this season. Webb kicked off a run that saw four starters combine to get wins while holding opponents to an ERA of 1.74 which propelled them to their 4-game win streak going into Wednesday night’s game.
The Giants had only scored 7 total runs in Webb’s first four appearances of the year, so the 7 – 4 win against New York should start to bring his confidence level up again. This is a guy who went 15 – 9 in 2022 with a 2.69 ERA, and that is a far cry from the numbers shown through five starts in 2023. Webb is sporting a 4.40 ERA entering Thursday’s game at Oracle Park, but his likely opponent on the bump hasn’t exactly had much success to speak of either.
Miles Mikolas has one loss and four no-decisions from his five starts of the 2023 campaign, and his 7.46 ERA has caused concern in the St. Louis locker room. He gave up another pair of homers in his last start which brings his count to six overall allowed, and the Cardinals aren’t exactly having a ton of success on offense of late.
I believe that Logan Webb will prevail with a win and quality start that has him on the mound through at least six innings. I do, however, think the secondary bet to make is the first-five innings total to go over the 4.5 runs because I see a 4 – 2 game at the midway point of the match.
St. Louis will choke away a few good opportunities with men on base, and the Giants will be the team that takes advantage of those situations against Mikolas early and often.
San Francisco Giants vs St Louis Cardinals Best Bet
The Giants will finish this series with a resounding 8 – 4 win, which points me to the extreme value with the odds on the -1.5 handicap on the home team. At 2.68, I am all over that type of value to fade the Cards’ offense against Webb and ride the Giants’ offense against Mikolas and company.
- Selection: Giants -1.5 Handicap Runs
- Best odds: 2.65 (Pinnacle)
- Stakes: 4/10
