San Diego Padres vs Cincinnati Reds Best Bet: We Have Liftoff In San Diego
San Diego Padres vs Cincinnati Reds Best Bet: Monday, May 1st
Houston, we don’t have a problem because the only issue taking place on Monday night will be the condition of the home plate from all of the cleats stomping on it in San Diego! In classic Ej Garr fashion, our baseball expert is eyeing a big night of scoring at Petco Park when the Reds and Padres play the first of their three-game series on Monday. Let’s take it to the diamond because it looks like Ej has another big offer on the table to start the week!

Well, you are used to me doing this stuff if you follow my hockey best bets, and now you are getting a dose of it when it comes to baseball. The Padres are hosting the Reds for a 3-game series that kicks off on Monday and ends on Wednesday and both teams have Thursday off as well.
The Reds have been one streaky team so far this campaign, as they have dealt with two 3-game losing streaks while also facing a 6-game slide from April 18 – 23. Cincinnati lost their opening day game but ran off a 3-game win streak, and they just had a 5-game win streak snapped on Sunday.
That’s a lot of runs, and I don’t mean the kind from eating too much chili and chicken wings if you get my drift, HA!
First of all, the two expected starting pitchers for this game have been absolute sieve’s on the mound to start the year. The Reds are sending Luke Weaver to the bump to start the series, and one thing the man has proven he can’t do is keep the ball in the park. Through only two starts to begin this campaign, Weaver has given up 3 HR to Texas and a pair of bombs to Pittsburgh, and let’s just say that five home runs allowed usually lead to an inflated ERA and the 7.71 tells the tale of the tape.
I don’t trust Luke Weaver to pick up the pieces after a pair of poor starts, although he was allowed to toss 192 pitches through 11 2.3 IP. That’s the exact ERA he had when he left Arizona last season before the trade to Kansas City, which didn’t work out well, to say the least either.
Weaver wants to prove he can be a starter again, but so far… not so good!
Blake Snell can dawn his Snellzliia shoes and brand all he wants because he too has gotten roughed up more often than not to start the campaign. Snell has given up at least one home run in four of his five starts this year, and that 5.48 ERA surely doesn’t spell success for any of us.
The Padres are 0 – 5 in Snell’s starts this season, and he is facing a dismal 0 – 4 record with one no-decision to his ledger. I was thinking about offering the Over 3.5 Walks for Blake Snell at 2.38 because he has been issuing way too many free passes through five starts. Snell has walked 4 or more players in 3 of his 5 starts, so all we would need is 4 of those to cash that puppy. Think about that as possible side action if you are in the mood!

What that all adds up to is runs, and we are not toying around the O/U 9 because the 10 looks like the steal of the day. Pinnacle is showing 2.47 for the Over 10, and that is where you can slide your mouse to bank the cash to start the week with a bang!
