I just, I mean, can I… Nope, I cannot even speak a sentence because I am trying to believe my eyes‽
Patrick Corbin and Noah Syndergaard? Have you been reading my articles during the 2022 baseball campaign? If you have been and you saw this matchup, I’ll bet that you stopped by today to make sure that this was the game that Ej would be choosing for the best bet of the day, right?
The line on the total is 23 runs… I am being facetious and I am trying to also stop from smiling so big because I hope this ends up being one of those out-of-control 13 to 10 types of affairs.
The Corbin Effect can lead to many bad things for any defense behind him, and any struggling offense is going to welcome the sight of #46 in a Nats uni on the bump.
Let me do my due diligence first. Patty Corbin (6 – 17: 6.28 ERA) vs. Noah Syndergaard (8 – 9: 4.07 ERA). Now that it’s out of the way, you have a pair of options to roll with, because you can take either the 1st 5 inning total or the full-time game total to topple the number.
It’s games like this that I don’t want to be stupidly over-confident about offering a bet, but I cannot help myself. I have spent the entire season watching these two get blown away in a year where pitching has dominated the season. And then, we have these two helping to level out some of the amazing numbers we’re seeing from the studs around the league.
Citizens Bank Park is a hitters’ park to begin with, and we know when the weather is nice and warm here on the east coast runs will come in this stadium. I have blindly played many a total in this park just by starting pitchers and weather alone, and we are almost in that spot tonight.
Amazingly, Corbin’s last 3 outings have seen him do rather well, which to me means he is due to get back to what he really is. A flat-gas lefty who I certainly don’t consider crafty, to say the least. This is the same guy who has given up at least 1 home run in 9 of his last 10 starts, and I expect a pair tonight from the Fightin’ Phils.
Syndergaard will have to deal with a revived Nationals lineup that just left St. Louis hitting the laces off the baseball. There were only 7 games played on Thursday, and MLB Network showed that Nats / Cards game.
Washington beat the snot out of the cards, 11 – 6, as 3.50 underdogs on Thursday, and they scored 5 runs the day before in a 1-run loss to the Cards.
That’s 16 runs scored for Washington over the last two days coming into an affair with Syndergaard starting alongside Patrick Corbin!
