Welcome to the City of Brotherly Love! We’re in Philadelphia for 3 days of baseball after the Phillies and Astros split wins from the first two games of the 2022 World Series in Houston. We are guaranteed no less than three games to decide the champion. as we switch venues for Citizens Bank Park. Our resident baseball expert Ej Garr pounded out 2 wins from his Game 1 preview, so let’s see what he has in mind for Game 3 of the Fall Classic.

Philadelphia Phillies vs Houston Astros Preview
November 1, 01:03 (UK time)
It will officially be November in the UK when the first pitch of Game 3 is thrown, but it’s still Halloween here in the States so don’t be scared to fancy a wager. I hope you cashed in the pair of bets I featured for Game 1 here at Bettingexpert, and I might just give you two more offers for Game 3 to make good use of.
First of all, this has already been one of the better Fall Classics that I can remember of late, and I am in that tough position of not really being a fan of either team, to say the least. Or is that the most I can say about them? Either way, I live in New York and we don’t exactly do well with Philly stuff and you already know how I feel about the Astros being a Yankees fan. Not because of this season, but so much more than that.
Anyway, can I just say that when they flashed who the Game 3 starters were going to be I almost couldn’t contain myself to get the first-5 inning total on the board? I am staring at an O/U of 4, and the juice is marginal at 1.87 expecting those runs to come.
Noah Syndergaard has pitched a total of 5⅓ innings in this year’s post-season, and two of those innings came out of the bullpen. He only lasted 3 innings against Atlanta in his only start of the playoffs, and do you know when you just don’t trust a dude to get a job done? It’s like when you run a construction business, and you hired 5 people to drive heavy machinery but you never asked them if they have a license to operate any of it!
Who cares, just throw them out there anyway and let the chips fall where they may. Yeah, the chips fell all over Thor, and listen, I get that the bullpens for both of these teams can pitch their brains out, and they keep runs off the board more often than not. How the hell do you think they got here? They both trust their relief pitching to maintain and control, but this is a different story.
Houston is going to tar Thor, so when it is 2 – 0 before the 2nd inning ends, at least, and then we factor in what Philly will do at home against Lance McCullers Jr. too? Hello, crooked numbers!
Putting up goose eggs for 5 innings is not going to happen for either of these two starters, mark my words. I saw the McCullers start, of course, against the Yanks, and we got to him for 4 earned runs before he succumbed to the call to the bullpen. I don’t think Dusty Baker is going to let Lance throw 100 pitches through 5 innings as he usually does tonight for some reason.
Jose Altuve is getting hot, and they were literally asking him on the field about how hot he is feeling and that is scary too, speaking of Halloween. Was that odd to watch for you too? After his double and run-scoring effort, they were right in the dugout not 2 minutes later with a mic and a camera in his face asking him how nice it is to be hot, contributing, and feeling good at the plate again.
It was almost like they wanted to make sure to confirm that he was back and he needed to stay there and be a force to be reckonded with again. We all know that when he goes, they go. I think we’ve all been shocked that he got off to that 3 for 43 post-season runs, but yet the Stros were 7 – 0 in the playoffs without him doing a damn thing. Trey Mancini too, like, dude, stop it, man! How long can Dusty Baker send him out there to stink like that?
Without a doubt, Baker wants Mancini to not go out like that, but his bat is quite literally made of ice right now. Again though, even without the contributions of two big players, the Astros just win games and are 8 – 1 now with 9 playoff games in the books.
How about #30 jacking two bombs in his first two World Series at-bats? After bashing 30 homers in the regular season, Kyle Tucker and third baseman Alex Bregman are the guys doing a good chunk of the damage for Houston. I wanted to reach out and hug Bregman for his bottom of the 5th HR that cashed my 5-inning Over in Game 2 that made it 5 – 0.
What’s happening is, we are fading Thor, and fading the Phils at home too. Houston is walking into the City of Brotherly Love and showing them none to start this 3-game set in Philly. Houston will go up 2 – 1 and we’ll be back for Game 4 right here when I make another call to bank on from Citizens Bank Park.
Philadelphia Phillies vs Houston Astros Best Bet
Astros Win! We see at least 4 runs through 5 innings, and that puts another pair of tickets to cash in our pockets. How sweet was that Philly comeback at 2.50 for Game 1 that you had from yours truly right here? It went so nicely with that total, didn’t it? You’re welcome!
