NY Mets vs Miami Marlins Run Total Best Bet: Mets Folding Like a Lawn Chair
New York Mets vs Miami Marlins Run Total Best Bet: Wednesday, September 28th
The Atlanta Braves now appear at the top of the NL East Division standings although they are tied with the Mets having identical 97 – 58 records. With a massive series against the Braves on the horizon for New York, another embarrassing defeat to the Marlins could prove costly as the playoffs are only seven regular season games away.

The Mets offense had better wake up tonight because the NL East Division title lay in the balance. A harsh defeat to the Marlins on Tuesday night, 6 – 4, officially gave the Braves the lead for the division title race. With only 7 games left to play in the regular season, Atlanta now holds the cards in their hands if they win out, so the 4-game series on deck might have the Mets looking ahead instead of dealing with what’s in front of them now.
Another loss to the Marlins tonight could really put the Mets behind the 8-ball because it would essentially put them two games in back of Atlanta. The Mets will need to win the regular season title outright because a tie in the final standings will give the Braves the AL East crown.
Taijuan Walker is being asked to help the Mets pick up the pieces from Tuesday night and get a much-needed win on Hump Day in Flushing. Walker (12 – 5; 3.53 ERA) is appearing as the Mets’ likely starter, and he is expected to be going up against Jesus Luzardo (3 – 7; 3.57 ERA).
The Mets’ offense on Tuesday was Pete Alonso, as his 3-run home run in the 4th inning was the only big hit in the game. A crazy pair of balk calls led to the Mets’ 4th run being scored, so this entire lineup needs to atone for the dismal effort. The Mets fell to 50 – 26 at home after Tuesday night’s loss to Miami, The loss of Starling Marte to a fractured right middle finger has hurt this lineup, as he has been a solid #2 guy in the Mets lineup all season. Marte is expected back next week, but a fractured finger is certainly going to affect his return to the field.
Luis Guillorme might be absent from this game, as he still is not 100% since returning from his recent stint on the I.L. Guillorme is dealing with a forearm problem, and the loss of his glove on the infield matters more than his offense.
Luzardo is going to be pitching to a pissed-off Mets lineup tonight who cannot afford to sit back and wait for pitches. I expect an aggressive approach from the entire 1 – 9 in the order which makes this total a live play at 7. Pinnacle is offering just about even money for the Over 7, and I believe the Mets will score all 7 of those runs by themselves tonight.

Unfortunately, the Mets team total isn’t screaming with value, as I see a 1.75 being attached to the Over 3.5 action. If you can snag the straight 4 with a better line in tow, you should opt for the yes option but expect all 7 of these runs to cross the plate, at least!
