I’m just wild about Harry! I’ll go on a big limb and say that none of you get the radio broadcast of the New York Yankees game, right? John Sterling always sings the I’m Just Wild About Harry tune when Harrison Bader knocks a ball out of the park and he did it for a third time in the post-season on Sunday night. Can the Yankees and Bader return home to the Bronx and move on to face Houston in the ALCS, or will Cleveland bounce back and take game 5 on the road on Monday night?

This is what baseball is all about, and for that matter when it happens in any sport with playoffs involved these games are the ones that everyone remembers. It’s Game 5, the game is being played in some little-known building such as Yankee Stadium, and a trip to the American League Championship Series is on the line… pfft!
The Astros made my Seattle prediction in 5 sure looks like I had no idea what I was doing, so I will hope not to embarrass myself again tonight.
During the Game 4 telecast, Ron Darling and Bob Costas told us that Aaron Civale is likely to get the ball for the Guardians tonight. When Tito was asked why he didn’t want his ace on the mound for this do-or-die game, he simply said it would not be fair to blow out his arm and I’d rather him be ready for Game 1 of the ALCS if we get there.
Bold call? I guess, but let’s go on a limb and respect Guardian Manager Terry Francona’s decision to maybe get an inning out of someone he ultimately wants 6 innings out of if they go to Houston for Game 1 of the ALCS. The Astros are just waiting at home for whoever wants to come calling and challenge them, and not having your ace to open that series is worth some type of thought process.
Sure, he won’t be worth a damn thing if they aren’t there should they lose, but that’s just a chance the press can analyze after the game happens.
Can I just say that when Gerrit Cole ended the bottom of the 7th inning by striking out pinch-hitter Will Brennan, the entire neighborhood heard me yelling let’s go with him? He let out a MIGHTY LET’S GOOO and I was already doing it so we were both in full throat. My wife is still mad at me for yelling like that and scaring our dog and being that loud but this is the playoffs, baby! We now interrupt this marriage to bring you the MLB Playoffs, so anything I say or do right now gets a pass when our lives are on the line as they are with every pitch, at-bat, hit, and run scored.
Being a lifelong Yankees fan, we needed a big effort from #45 and we paid him big bucks to come to New York to deliver such an outing in the post-season! In case you haven’t heard, the lights are just a little brighter in New York than they are anywhere else, and the pressure to keep winning titles never stops in Gotham City.
If you caught the Yankees pregame on YES, the guys were talking about Clay Holmes and the New York bullpen more than anything else. Boone confused a lot of the Yankee press by withholding Holmes and putting Clarke Schmidt on the mound in Game 3, which eventually turned into a loss in the bottom of the 9th and why the Yanks were down 2 – 1 going into Sunday night’s affair.
Holmes came on in the 8th inning of Game 4 to face the top of the Guardians order, and he was stellar helping the Yanks hold on to a 4 – 2 late lead striking out Jose Ramirez to finish off the frame with a steady diet of sinkers.
Cleveland’s Oscar Gonzalez might be the guy to avoid late if he gets up in a position to change the outcome of Game 5. Gonzalez is one of only two players in ALCS history to have three game-winning hits in one post-season. You might have heard of some guy who goes by the name Big Papi. Yeah, he did it in 2004 when the Sox broke the Curse of the Bambino, so he will be hoping to send Cleveland to Houston.
The Yankees sent Wandy Peralta to the hill to close out the bottom of the 9th inning on Sunday night, The first two batters were out on two groundballs to second base with only 3 pitches thrown, and Andres Gimenez struck out on the 7th pitch from Peralta to send us all back to New York.
The Yankees are 15 – 15 in winner-take-all games and Cleveland has only won once from 8 tries with their playoffs lives on the line. You could see how much winning Game 4 meant to Cole when he walked off the field after his post-game interview with Lauren. He was still bursting out Let’s Go to the Yankee faithful who stayed behind to celebrate the 4 – 2 win, and now the Boogie Down is going to be a madhouse!
Playoffs? Yankee Stadium? The winner of the only game left in the ALDS will be getting on a plane to play Houston, and the NLDS is set with Philly and San Diego starting their series on Tuesday.
I am hearing that Jameson Tallion is getting the start for the Yankees, but all hands are on deck outside of Cole. The bullpen situation is still a mess but I would expect that Holmes and Rodriguez can handle the 8th and 9th again if need be.

I see the total is 7.5 and I am suggesting that you expect a 5 – 4 Yankees win and the Dark Side moves on. Yes, my loyalty as a Yankees fan is what it is, but the home crowd and the pressure in Cleveland will be too much for them. Aaron Judge is being pitched at, and this is where the Guardians should have rethought that approach. I expect 99 and 48 to go deep and the Yankees to advance for another old-fashioned shootout against the Stros in the ALCS.
