New York Mets vs Cincinnati Reds Preview
August 9th, 00:10 (UK time)
I know, I almost got all Godfather on you to start the week, so let me make you an offer you might not be able to refuse to start your week making the dough. No, not the pizza dough, the money, the greenbacks, the sterling stuff full of value!
Justin Dunn has not been seen on a Major League Baseball mound since mid-june last year when he was with the Mariners. This move is being considered essential because of a whole bunch of circumstances, such as Tyler Mahle being shipped out of town, and Luis Castillo going over to the Mariners among them.
Dunn was not a part of the deal that sent Castillo to Seattle this past week, however, as Justin’s transaction happened back in March before the season got underway. Dunn was part of a deal that included outfielder Jake Fraley, along with a pair of up-and-comers Brandon Williamson and Connor Phillip.
Dunn was actually a 1st-Round pick by the Mets in the 2016 draft, and he was involved with a bigger trade in 2018 with a few names you might recognize. We just saw Robinson Cano try to make a comeback that failed with Atlanta as he was one of those players involved in that deal.
Anyway, I mentioned I would be watching both of the Javcob deGrom starts if I got a chance to cover a Mets game again. Well, I would say he did all right last night picking up another win. deGrom broke the all-time MLB record for strikeouts before your 200th start (1,523), which he made last night. I think he struck out everyone including 4 people in the crowd and 2 ushers on Sunday! Talk about dominance, being perfect for 5 innings before the walk and the blast in the 6th with two outs. But, no one cares about that, although he really did slam his glove into the dugout bench after being pulled after 5⅔ IP at home. I highly doubt he wanted to walk off the field like that after such an effort, but he will still take the win
Excuse me, but did you see the game last night? Man, when Edwin Diaz comes into a game it is almost as cool as when Mariano played enter Sandman. That tune by Narco and Mr. and Mrs. Met standing on the dugout with the trumpets? They turned up the volume last night and what a scene it was! Mets taking the 4th win of 5 games against the Braves and Diaz coming in to shut the door?
And, hey, prop bet Joe here. Brandon Nimmo Over 1.5 bases is listed at 2/01 if you are a Pinnacle user and he is just hitting a beach ball right now. One hit? One base afterwards? Against Justin Dunn at the top of the lineup? It’s election time still in the States… VOTE YES TO NIMMO! +1.5 BASES!.
Anyway, deGrom’s effort was outstanding and taking 4 wins from a 5-game series over Atalnta this past extended weekend surely has the Citi Field faithful in full throat. Did you hear the crowd in the 4th inning when he was on the verge of the strikeouts? You know how the Yanks’ and Mets’ crowd get all uppity with two strikes in a big game and make no mistak that winning over Atlanta was big.
The Braves are the team chasing the Mets in the NL East so now there is a little separation after that series for New York. I saw the Over 3.5 earned runs at DraftKings at 2.05 but Pinnacle is also showing a useful line from the Mayor of Value City. 2.05 works for me anytime we get plus money for something I certainly expect to see happen early. Will the Mets have 4 runs before they knock Dunn out of the game? Yes, that’s the call and don’t forget that Nimmo will be a reason why Dunn gives up those runs we need to cash this ticket.
New York Mets vs Cincinnati Reds Best Bet
That’s the ticket. I mean we have not seen Mr/ Dunn on a big league mound in over a year and he gets to go to Citi Field and deal with a Mets team who is high from wiping out the Braves in a big series? Again, just vote yes and click your ballot for the Mayor of Value City to help you cash a plus money ticket to start the week off right.
