HOUSTON ASTROS VS BALTIMORE ORIOLES

Wed, Sep 20. 19:10 (UK time)

Baltimore has won the first two games in this series by scores of 8-7 and 9-5. Offence has overpowered even some good pitching, which probably shouldn’t be a surprise. Both of these line ups are deep, and they each rank in the top four by wRC+ this month.

Orioles starter Kyle Bradish has enjoyed a very good 2023, but he allowed four earned runs to the Rays last time out, and sits only just above league average when it comes to his xERA. Astros starter Cristian Javier is enduring the worst season of his big-league career, owning a 4.74 xERA and with very poor numbers across the board over the last three months.

This has been an offence-heavy series to date. We’re backing that trend to continue in the finale on Wednesday evening.

  • Selection: Over 9 total runs
  • Best Odds: 1.91
  • Bookmaker: Bet365
  • Stakes: 8/10

TAMPA BAY RAYS VS LOS ANGELES ANGELS

Wed, Sep 20. 23:40 (UK time)

The Angels gave up on this season weeks ago. It has been an awful campaign down in Anaheim. Their offence has the third-lowest wRC+ this month, which is partnered by the third third-highest strikeout rate.

Tampa Bay is still fighting for the American League East title after claiming a 6-2 win over these Angels on Tuesday. Wednesday’s game sees Aaron Civale take the mound, who has 23 strikeouts through three September starts. In true Rays fashion, Civale’s K/9 has leapt from 6.78 in Cleveland to 10.62 as a Ray.

Civale has passed this line in three of his last five starts. The low-strikeout Marlins were one of the two teams to go under this number. The Angels have struck out at least eight times per game over their last 10, which results in the highest strikeout rate in MLB over that span.

There’s great value here.

  • Selection: Aaron Civale over 6.5 strikeouts
  • Best Odds: 2.15
  • Bookmaker: Bet365
  • Stakes: 7/10

ST LOUIS CARDINALS VS MILWAUKEE BREWERS

Thu, Sep 21. 00:45 (UK time)

It’s one win apiece through the first two games of this series as the Milwaukee Brewers edge closer to a third division title in six seasons. Milwaukee has gone 20-12 over their last 32 games, while the Cardinals are on a 13-18 run.

St Louis’ offence has faded, with a 77 wRC+ in September. Their bullpen has been a liability all year. Milwaukee, in contrast, have been an above-average offence this month, and their bullpen has been typically elite.

The starting matchup is relatively even; both pitchers are a bit below league-average by their expected metrics. Adrian Houser, who does a good job of keeping the Brewers in games, has a slight edge over Zack Thompson of late, however.

With how the Brewers have performed at the plate this month, we like their price here. Look for this to be a close game through five with Milwaukee able to claim a win off the Cardinals ‘pen.

  • Selection: Milwaukee Brewers moneyline
  • Best Odds: 1.95
  • Bookmaker: Bet365
  • Stakes: 5/10
