After splitting a pair of offers on Tuesday our resident U.S sports pundit Ej Garr is headed back to Baltimore for a play on the total. There is enough meat on the bone to suggest that our readers jump on the Over 8.5 for the Wednesday night affair between the Orioles and Cubs at Camden Yards.

MLB Best Bet: June 8th

Baltimore vs. Chicago Best Bet

June 9, 00:05  UK time

We’re heading back to Baltimore again on Wednesday night because there is an offer on the total I don’t think I can let you refuse. The Cubs fell a half-run short of our 1st 5 inning total last night but Wisdom reached base twice to help us split the pair of offers that were suggested from Tuesday night’s game.

Now, why are we back here again? Oh, let’s start with the fact that this park is among the smallest in baseball and the weather is going to help us cash another ticket on a total. As I submit this piece it is late here in New York and I see an 8.5 listed as our over/under with a decent 1.87 attached to the Over coinflip of the action.

I am sorry but you probably know that Baltimore hit the tar out of the ball on Tuesday night and had 7 runs across the plate in a shake of lamb’s tail. Keegan Thompson had gotten off to a tremendous start to the 2022 campaign and it is why the Cubs were slight favourites to take the win against the Orioles.

The line was about even money for the most part when the game time arrived, but the Orioles came out hitting and scored a pair of runs in the 1st inning, three more in the 2nd inning, and another brace in the 3rd inning to jump out to a 7 – 1 lead. The Orioles carried that to a 9 – 3 win and I personally thought that Kyle Bradish would be the one to get lit up early.

Instead, Thompson only pitched 3 innings but Alec Mills came into the game and was never replaced tossing all 5 innings in relief saving the Cubs bullpen. We got our two walks from Patty Wisdom and, of course, Bradish gave up 2 home runs again because that’s what he does as I mentioned.

So, the two starters on Wednesday are supposed to be Marcus Stroman and Jordan Lyles and there are our next two reasons we are playing this total to fly over the number.

Let’s start with Stroman and that 5.32 ERA he is carrying into this ballgame. I think we all get that guys can bounce back from bad outings but what we saw happen to him last time out was extreme. Stroman was torched for 9 earned runs while giving up another 3 home runs to bring that count up to 8 for the campaign.

Jordan Lyles knows what it feels like to give up a trio of bombs when the Yankee bats lit him up 3 times earlier this season. Lyles’ totals are a split 5 – 5 on the total this year, but let’s remember the 38 times that he got jacked up a season ago and now we turn to our weatherman on the scene, Ej Garr.

Hi, thanks this is Ej with the forecast, and yes, the report for the Baltimore area on Wednesday calls for high heat and a decent amount of humidity which are each our friends when we need runs to be scored at Camden Yards. So, with all of that coming together I have to support a wager on this total to go Over the 8.5 run total.

  • Selection: Over 8.5 Runs
  • Best odds: 1.86 (Marathonbet)
  • Stakes 4/10
