CLEVELAND GUARDIANS VS TEXAS RANGERS: Rangers over 4.5 runs
Fri, Sep 16. 00:10 (UK time)
The Texas Rangers have righted the ship after a torrid few weeks. Winning their last six, Texas’ offence has come back to life, and their pitching has kept them in games. The Rangers have scored 44 runs over their last five games, passing this team total in each of those outings.
Texas’ deep, powerful line up faces Cleveland starter Lucas Giolito, who has had an awful time since being traded by the White Sox before the deadline. Giolito posted a 6.89 ERA in six starts for the Angels before conceding 13 earned runs in his first 10 innings for the Guardians.
After demolishing the Jays for four games this week, the Rangers boast the hottest offence in the Majors once again. They are well-set to do plenty of damage against Giolito in the early going, and will be able to generate more offence against a Cleveland bullpen which ranks 18th in ERA over the last month.
KANSAS CITY ROYALS VS HOUSTON ASTROS: Astros over 5.5 runs
Fri, Sep 16. 01:10 (UK time)
We’re going all-in on offence from the Texas teams tonight. Just as the Rangers have a favourable matchup with Giolito, Houston should have a lot of fun against Zack Greinke. The future Hall of Famer has endured a brutal season with both his xERA and ERA starting with five.
Sure, you could take the Astros on the run line, but we have been put off by Cristian Javier’s dodgy numbers this season. The team total represents superior value – Houston has the best wRC+ over the last fortnight, and has averaged 6.25 runs per game over that span.
The Astros have passed this line in 11 of their last 17. Greinke’s only strength at this stage of his career is his command, and this Astros offence doesn’t rely on the walk. He pitches in the zone a lot, which will result in a tonne of hard contact. If they don’t get all six on the board off Greinke, they can add a few off Kansas City’s subpar bullpen.
COLORADO ROCKIES VS SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS: LaMonte Wade Jr over 1.5 total bases
Fri, Sep 16. 01:40 (UK time)
Rockies starter Chase Anderson has a 6.49 xERA and a 5.46 ERA. He has been one of the worst starting pitchers in the big leagues this year, and has particularly struggled against left-handed hitters. Lefties have a .923 OPS against Anderson on the year. He’s got a 1.70 WHIP against lefties as a Rockie.
San Francisco’s offence has struggled over the last few months, but they have put together a run of five wins in six games. Much of that can be attributed to the late-game heroics of LaMonte Wade Jr, who was responsible for a pair of game-winning plate appearances in their series against the Guardians.
Wade has hit this over in three of his last four games. There’s superb value here – the wager seems even more appealing when you consider Wade will have at least a couple of plate appearances against Colorado’s woeful bullpen.
