Detroit Tigers vs Cleveland Guardians Run Total Best Bet: Tiger Pride Starting to Slide
Detroit Tigers vs Cleveland Guardians Run Total Best Bet: Tiger Tuesday, August 9th
The pride of the tiger is getting roughed up this season as Detroit is trying to avoid the honor of the worst team in the American League. Meanwhile, the Cleveland Guardians are in a wild chase for a wild card spot as these two teams start a 3-game series on Tuesday. Our resident baseball expert Ej Garr had one gem of a catch cost us a tip on Monday so it’s time to get it back with an offer on the total in Detroit on Tuesday night

Detroit Tigers vs Cleveland Guardians Preview
August 10th, 00:10 (UK time)
Well, we came up a half-run shy from starting our week with a winner, and hey, what a catch it was to rob Lindor in the 5th inning. That ball was gone and then it just wasn’t, so I can rebound as well as anyone.
I am turning to the total in Detroit for a couple of reasons, the first being the line. I am seeing a 2.01 being offered on the Over 7.5 full game total, and what is stopping 8 runs from being scored?
The starting pitchers? Really? Yeah, I am going to need a little more than that because Shane Bieber (6 – 6; 3.39 ERA) and Tyler Alexander (2 – 5; 4.04 ERA) don’t exactly put fear in anyone’s eyes and certainly not mine.
The last time Shane Bieber saw a Tiger lineup he got jacked up for 5 earned runs in an 8 – 2 loss to Detroit back on July 6. Now, we all see the Bieber stats are actually decent numbers for the most part, he just doesn’t get enough run support more often than not. By the same token, those two recent outings where he only gave up 1 earned run came against Tampa Bay and the White Sox who aren’t exactly lighting up a baseball recently. Tampa’s offense is a mess and I think I could give our manager 5 solid against the Rays and I stopped playing like 15 years ago.
Seriously though, I see all of these Tigers totals coming in recently and that wasn’t the case until the weather started to really get warm. The Tigers offense still ranks 30th in MLB only scoring 3.32 runs a game while we know almost everyone else seems to be near or at 4 runs a night.
The Guardians are scoring 4.40 runs an outing, and that basically puts them smack in the middle of the league average ranking them 16th overall. So, while rankings are all well and good, Detroit has been improving on those numbers lately but their defense is a mess and their pitching needs a ton of improvement.
Tyler Alexander is getting his third straight start and while his numbers overall are outstanding I think he is about to fall back to earth tonight at home. Alexander has only contributed 42 innings pitched and I don’t trust him to go 5 again tonight. I see him giving Detroit 3⅔ innings at best while getting knocked out of the game early, and we will be at 4 – 2 before we even get out of the 5th inning. The first 5 inning total should be on your mind but this full time game total is the play to make here so make it rain!
Detroit Tigers vs Cleveland Guardians Best Bet
As I said, I believe we will have 6 of those 7.5 runs we’ll need in the books before we even get into the 6th inning so needing a couple of more dudes to score from there suits me fine. The even money offer is fair enough at 2.01 so let’s take it down and get Monday’s bet back!
- Selection: Over 7.5 Runs
- Best odds: 2.06 (Pinnacle)
- Stakes: 4/10
