Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins Run Total Best Bet: It’s a Wrap on the Regular Season
Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins Run Total Best Bet: Wednesday, October 5th
It’s time to wrap up the regular season and advance to the playoffs, although neither the Sox nor the Twins will be partaking in the post-season. However, our resident baseball pundit is hoping we can put our stamp on the campaign with one more total in Chicago on Wednesday afternoon.

Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins Preview
October 5, 21:10 (UK time)
This is it! We have arrived at the regular season’s final day, which means the playoffs are on deck. The White Sox were a contender for the post-season when September started, but a miserable month finished off those hopes weeks ago.
Wouldn’t it figure that now the White Sox are playing good ball having won 5 of their last 6 games when this is the type of run they needed before they fell apart and folded like a lawn chair? You know it also figures that I opted not to offer up another Lucas Giolito total on Tuesday and it flew right in while the tip I decided on flopped like a fish! That makes me the stupid one, so I apologize to anyone that followed that advice.
Nothing sucks the life out of us here more than a cal going ultimately the other way, so I certainly want to end the regular season on a good note. I am heading back to this series for the Over for a few reasons.
First of all, the Over 7.5 Runs are being given away at Pinnacle with odds of 1.90. That holds plenty of value to me with marginal juice attached to the action, but then I saw the 2.19 for the team total and I couldn’t handle it. At 2.19, the White Sox team total is 2.5 in the 1st 5 innings, and I do believe they can score 3 times early.
Secondly, the White Sox are likely going to finish the season with a bang to make up for the terrible finish so I am turning to the team total expecting them to win 6 of their final 7 games and have it mean absolutely nothing. Both of these teams will shake hands after the game and they’ll meet again next year when they return to the field for spring training… if we have one next year!
Additionally, the starting pitching matchup is favourable because we have Davis Martin (3 – 5; 3.65 ERA) scheduled to go up against Louie Varland (0 – 2; 4.71 ERA). Varland is the fade in this spot and he will be giving up the 3 runs we need to cross home plate before we get to the 6th inning.
Martin hasn’t gotten much run support this year, so it would be nice if the bats came alive for him for his final start of 2022. By the same token, one place Marin has not pitched well is this place, as he is 0 – 2 here with an ERA over 5.
Varland has made two road starts in 2022 from the 4 outings overall this season, which came against Cleveland and the Yanks in September. Varland is 0 – 1 with a 5.23 ERA from the pair of outings on the road as he gets one last chance here this afternoon in Chicago to try and better those numbers.

I surmise we’ll see runs from the Sox early and this total should also be a participant on your card to wrap up the regular season. Let’s give out that Over 7.5 as a bonus tip to go along with the Sox team total through 5 innings.
- Selection: Chicago Team Total Over 2.5 Runs 1st 5 Innings
- Best odds: 2.19 (Pinnacle)
- Stakes: 4/10
- Bonus Tip: Over 7.5 Runs (1.90)
Odds as of 10:00 am October 5th, 2022. Odds may now differ.
