Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins Best Bet: A Windy City Showdown
Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins Best Bet: Tuesday, May 2nd
The White Sox and Twins set up for a 3-game series that takes off on Tuesday and lands on Thursday, and the Twins come into Guaranteed Rate Field as heavy favourites to begin the series. Our resident baseball expert Ej Garr has an early betting option in mind so he can have us paid after just five innings of baseball on Tuesday night in the Windy City.

The Minnesota Twins will spend the next three days in the Windy City as they take on the struggling White Sox who have yet to reach the double-digit win mark. At 8 – 21, the Sox just shook off a 10-game losing skid by finding a win on Sunday against the mighty Rays who are looking like a big force to be reckoned with.
Chicago has yet to win a series this campaign, and the Twins already earned two wins over the Sox when they met in early April in Minnesota. The two teams combined to only score 18 runs in 3 days, and the White Sox have continued to make scoring runs look extremely difficult.
The White Sox rank 25th in all of MLB with a .675 OPS, and the 4.21 runs per game leaves Chicago ranked at 22nd in the league but the defense and pitching staff are cause for the greatest concern.
Chicago’s defense ranks 29th in runs allowed (6.53), 29th in opponents OPS (.840), and 29th in homers allowed (1.71 per game).
That is a recipe for disaster and it doesn’t look like much is going to change anytime soon despite the win on Sunday to snap the 10-game losing skid.
Michael Kopech is listed as the probable starter for Chicago on Tuesday night, and the 7.01 ERA sure shines brightly next to the 0 – 3 record and a 1.71 WHIP. I think we lost any confidence in Kopech right out of the gate when he allowed five home runs against the Giants’ offense in his first start of the campaign.
Kopech is lined up to go up against Joe Ryan, and all he has done is won all five of his starts, gone 6 or more innings in every outing, and the 2.81 sparkles nicely in accordance. I think we have reason to have much more confidence in Ryan than we do with Kopech on the mound for the Sox, and the Twins’ defense is among the best in baseball as well.
Minnesota’s pitching staff is holding opponents to a .644 OPS, which is good enough to be ranked #2 in MLB. While also holding foes to a .223 batting average that only allows 3.24 runs per game, the Twins rank 4th in each of the respective categories.
Chicago White Sox vs Minnesota Twins Best Bet
I expect Ryan to outpitch Kopech early, and we have already seen why the Twins starter can give us early confidence in his stuff. With a -0.5 run being offered with 1.95 odds, I have no issue offering that as our best bet for Tuesday’s action around the diamond.
- Selection: Twins 1st-5 Inning -0.5 Runs
- Best odds: 1.95 (Pinnacle)
- Stakes 4/10
