Atlanta Braves vs NY Mets BET BUILDER TIPS: METS AND BRAVES CLASH AGAIN ON TUESDAY
NEW YORK METS MONEYLINE
The Mets were listed with odds of 2.75 to win the series-opening game against the Braves on Monday night, and now they’ll go for consecutive wins against the NL East Division leader on Tuesday night.
While the Mets are clearly out of the chase to make the playoffs this season, the Braves are the team with the pressure on them as they try to clinch home-field advantage in the National League for the post-season.
The Braves and Dodgers are only a couple of games apart in that race, but Atlanta flopped pretty hard on Monday while the Mets’ bats and defense continued to shine. If you didn’t see the catch by Brandon Nimmo last night, feel free to look that one up because the play made the MLB Network Plays of the Night segment.
Now, the next bold move we’re making is tossing the Mets to win this game outright on the card. Why? The price of 2.75 again is outstanding as it was on Monday, and the Mets can certainly find a way to win this game.
Francisco Lindor is seeing beach balls at the plate lately, as he has picked up at least one hit in eight consecutive games. He wouldn’t be another bad addition to the card because Bryce Elder is listed as the Braves probable starting pitcher for this contest.
Elder may be coming off a terrific appearance against the Yankees, but that won’t help him a damn bit on Tuesday night. Over his last 7 starts, Elder has been caught giving up at least 5 earned runs on 4 occasions, and this result will increase that stat to 5 of his last 8 outings after tonight’s effort.
Tylor Megill appears as the probable starting Mets pitcher on Tuesday night, and he is hoping to not see a repeat of his last start against the Braves. On August 11 Tylor Megill got the nod at home against Atlanta, and the Mets got pounded, 7 – 0!
Revenge is a beautiful thing if you can keep your cool and deliver a performance, so I expect Megill to rebound from that effort and give the Mets a solid outing on Tuesday night.
OVER 0.5 1ST INNING RUNS
Early and often. The line setters are showing a total of 11.5 for this game, and that number is extremely high for what we are used to seeing when these two teams meet. This will be the 12 meeting of the campaign between these division rivals, and we have not seen any total over 10, much less 11.5.
That tells me the scoring will be started early, so I am pointing to exactly that. As we all know, the top of the order in any lineup is not easy to navigate, and I don’t think that Megill nor Elder will get out of the opening frame without harm done.
I foresee a 2 – 1 1st inning result and the runs might just keep coming but I am not going near the overall total in this case. That number scares me a bit although the Mets have been hitting their totals over quite a bit lately.
Let’s just say that I have an app here in New York from McDonalds, and every time the Mets score 5 or more runs we all get free french fries with an order placed of any kind. The Mets will score 5 runs on Tuesday against Elder alone, so expect the dish to be touched nice and early tonight. I’ll see you on Wednesday at Mickie D’s when I grab my chocolate shake and free fries when the Mets win this game, 6 – 5!
BRANDON NIMMO TO RECORD 1+ HIT
I am using the same theory we applied on Monday by placing a leadoff man to find one base knock to our bet builder. The potential for a fifth at-bat always gives the leadoff hitter that extra chance that might not be there for players hitting further down the lineup.
Nimmo has found his way on base with a hit in 12 of his last 13 games, and I expect this run to continue into Tuesday. Confidence at the plate is not easy to find, but Nimmo has gotten that rough patch out of his system that he went through in July, and now he is being consistent in August.
