Arizona Diamondbacks vs Texas Rangers Bet Builder Tips, Stats, Player Props: Monday, August 21st

The Arizona Diamondbacks will play host to the Texas Rangers for a brief 2-game series on Monday and Tuesday night, as the visitors will be getting used to being on the road for a spell. Texas is kicking off a 10-day roadie that will bring them to Arizona, Minnesota, and New York before returning to the Lone Star State.

Ej has picked out a trio of bets to make that form his Monday night baseball bet builder, so let’s start the week with a 4.40 ticket to cash! Get more free MLB picks at Bettingexpert Insights.

ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS VS TEXAS RANGERS BET BUILDER TIPS: RANGERS IN THE DESERT FOR TWO!

JORDAN MONTGOMERY TO RECORD 5+ STRIKEOUTS

Let’s start this Monday night MLB bet builder discussion with the starting pitcher for the Rangers, as Jordan Montgomery is listed as the probable starter for the Rangers on Monday night. Monty was acquired at the trade deadline from the Cardinals, and he now has two starts for Texas since dawning their uniform.

Catching the A’s and Angels’ offense has certainly eased the transition to the NL West, but they are still a pair of quality starts despite actually losing to Oakland, 2- 0 in his first appearance with Texas.

The only number I care about in this case is that strikeout count he seems to always manage no matter which team he is facing and where. Monty strikes out 5 guys in his sleep, and he sent 9 Angels back to the bench with their bats still in their hands in his last effort.

As you peruse his entire season, it is tough to find an outing where he has had less than 5 K’s, as he has knocked down 5 or more dudes in 14 of his 21 starts overall.

I see 5 more coming tonight, and that brings me to the first-inning prop bet that is included in this Monday-night MLB bet builder…

UNDER 0.5 1ST INNING RUNS

Nada! Nil! Not one run will be scored early in this game, as Montgomery will certainly do his part to keep Arizona off the board early.

Now, am I concerned about his likely opponent that we see listed to start for the D-Backs on Monday night?

Slade Cecconi is getting the nod to open this short set with Texas, and we already know what to expect from him from what we’ve seen thus far. Cecconi has only made 3 MLB appearances in 2023, two of them being starts with a showing as a reliever as well.

Cecconi has made all three of his outings against NL West teams this year, and this Texas offense is certainly better than what he has seen to date. His last start was against the Rockies, and he only allowed 2 runs while getting a no-decision because he was pulled before the end of the 5th inning.

I expect him to be able to navigate this Texas lineup once, but that second time through the doors might open up a little wider for the Rangers’ offense. Before we get there, it will be 0 – 0 as the second inning arrives, so that is bet #2 for tonight’s bet builder.

MARCUS SIMIEN TO RECORD AT LEAST 1 HIT

The nice thing about putting Simien in this spot is that he bats at the top of the order, and that makes it a little easier for him to see five at-bats in a game. That exact scenario happened just yesterday, as he was the only player in the Texas lineup that made five plate appearances. It didn’t help much, however, as the Texas offense has been stumped by Milwaukee pitching the last two days.

Regardless of that, Marcus Simien knows how important it is to set the table, and I believe he will get a base knock in his second AB against Cecconi. As I mentioned, that second time though the order for Cecconi is going to be one he wishes he didn’t make, so expect Texas to jump on him after seeing his stuff a little bit.

Simien to grab a hit in this game completes our Monday night MLB bet builder, so let’s slam one over the wall and bring home the salami!
